When is a good time To....

I have 500 miles on the car now and i can't wait to open her up WOT. I havent revved her past 3k yet so i was wondering what mileage i can start? Some people say 600 while others say 1000. Does it really matter after 500? Would it hurt the car in the long run? Thx in advance to those who post....

Exclamation I bet I'm the only few having the owner manual.......................................

Auto... ... paying extra attention to how you drive during the first 600 miles (1000 km).
  1. Avoid full-throttle starts and rapid acceleration

  2. Avoid hard braking for the first 200 miles (300 km)

  3. Do not change the oil until the MID indicates it is needed.

Your should follow these same recommendations with an overhauled or exchanged engine, or when the brakes are relined.

After this, you're on your own... It's your car, you could do whatever you want...

Personally I feel more comfortable at 1000 miles... maybe too paranoid..

Manual says 600, I did mine at 3000, just because I wanted to let my engine mature a bit more and I wasn't in any rush to REV or RACE my car. Typically, you can rev your engine after 600, but your car will get stronger after 7000 miles (my personal experience)

now, I have 8600 miles on it, since I bought it on 9/2004
