When did you have to replace your A/C Pump?

I may have to replace my A/C pump on my 2005 TL 6MT with only 65,000 original miles. When did you guys have to replace your A/C pump?

Normally they will last a lifetime, but just like any part, they can become problematic and need replacement.
Never replaced one on the TL, but have replaced compressors on other vehicle, mostly due to a lockup condition, some leaking at the seal, clutch assembly destroyed, etc.

What is the reason for the replacement?

My clutch went on mine and replaced it. Worked great after!

The transmission died a few months after install so I have it for sale if you need one.

Don't you mean 'A/C compressor'?

Yeah my mistake, I meant compressor. My car is not blowing cold air anymore and the auto parts service manager tried to help me refill it with the 45$ can but the A/c still didn't turn on. He then swapped relays and said it's my compressor that is bad. Just wondering cause I have pretty low mileage on my car and thought this went out a little too early

You can get an OEM replacement (original unit, made by Denso without the Honda name on the package) from rockauto. About $200

Not so sure I would have blindly dumped in a can.... I'd do the AC clutch jumper test to rule out a bad AC compressor clutch.

Car off and keys in you pocket. Pull the AC Clutch relay and make sure there's battery voltage at pin 1. If not then fuse #12 may be blown. If there is voltage then jumper pins 1 and 2. If you hear a click at the AC compressor then the clutch is working and there's probably some other issue with the A/C. If no click then it could be a bad wire to the clutch or more likely a bad AC clutch/field coil.

Also - after the jumper is out and the relay is back in - with the car running, if you try and turn on the A/C do both fans behind the radiator turn on? If yes that further points to a compressor clutch issue since the fans usually will not come on if there is a system charge issue.

Mine makes an annoying rattling sound when I turn it on but it works great. It's been doing this for the last 30k miles or so with no other problems than the annoying noise. Is there any fix for this or does it just need to be replaced to get rid of the sound?

Another A/C mechanic said he tried to manually jump the compressor to the batter but it didn't turn on. All signs so far are leading to replacing compressor. I managed to buy a Murray a/ compressor at Oreillys at cost of $160. The manager was hella cool with me there. Not this weekend but next I'll install it in myself then post a reply. I'll give an update if the compressor fixes the problem
