Wheel Locks and a Flat

What happens if you get a flat when you have wheel locks on? I don't want to keep the key in the car, but if I don't have it and need to change the tire am I in trouble?

You don't actually need to store the key elsewhere. The wheel locks are meant to deter the quick jack & grab thieves from snagging your wheels. If they go far enough to break into your car & search for the key, then they'll find a way to get the wheels off anyway. I simply keep mine in the foam tray that goes in the spare. It's really not a very good idea to not keep the key with the car, as it prevents you from changing your tire if need be.(unless you're like me & keep a plug kit and compressor in the trunk).

My two cents.

Sorry but this is a no brainer...
Better safe than sorry.
Keep the key in the car.
There is a perfect space in the styrofoam thing that goes in the spare in the trunk.

We must have been writing our answers almost simultaneously.
Great minds think alike!

That's what I do, why would you keep the wheel lock key anywhere else?

You can always find a hiding place somewhere in the car if you don't want to use the normal storage area. Wrap it in a dark cloth or pouch and stick it under one of the seats, or some other place you might like.

Just don't forget to tell them where it is when you leave your car for service or repairs. Most all of the dealers have a master set, but the key for your wheels might have been lost or loaned out.

I must be overly paranoid then, for jacking the car in the parking lot, and rolling the wheels in by hand to have tires installed

You're not. I don't do that, but I do all my own oil changes and tire rotations so I don't have to worry about someone else scratching the wheels.

And if I need to have tires mounted or a flat fixed, I will take off the wheel and drive it to the shop in my other car.

You may want to check out www.powerlock.com , they have a product call wheelsafe. It attachs to the rims and will set off an audible alarm if the wheels are removed. It's a new product, not sure if it's worth it.
