Whats wrong with your car?

Hey guys, I'm bored so I decided to make a thread where we list the various things that are wrong with our cars. Maybe if we all compile our own list it will motivate us to get those issues taken care of quicker.

Ill start:

1. Fix steering wheel volume control lights. They're out.
2. Fix the light that turns on when the drivers side seat heater turns on HI.
3. prevent the drivers side door cubby from sagging/opening up randomly.
4. Replace one screw that connects radio to HVAC unit that I forgot to put back.
5. Clean up engine bay.
6. Clean up interior.

Lets see some of your lists. Hopefully yours isn't as long as mine haha

Thumbs up

1. Replace the bulb that lights up the emergency flashers light
2. Replace lights in seat heater switches
3. Put replace some of the clips that hold the interior panels on
4. Replace driver's side door molding (the one on the floor) piping
5. Tweak the driver's side mirror motor so it has some lube
6. Replace some random screws and clips around the glove box, as well as those around the bumpers (a lot are chipped thanks to road debris over the years)

and lastly...

7. Figure out how my navi voice works again. This isn't something bad or wrong, per-se, but I have a 2004 TL with navi and I had to replace my head unit with one from a 2005. That change killed my ability to hear the navi's voice or to use the voice command function. And as of about three weeks ago, it works perfectly.

The reason that doesn't make sense (why it shouldn't work) is because Alpine changed the placement of two wires between 04 and 05, and therefore the navi voice shouldn't play through the speakers. But thanks to divine intervention, I can hear the voice and give commands again. Halleluiah.

It's in my unheated garage with 2 ft of fresh snow outside.

I don't have all my parts.

I have Tein SS/EDFC and RV6 strut brace sitting in the basement

I have 4 A-Spec wheels in the basement with no tires.

1. Secure the bottom of the license plate with two more bolts to stop the annoying rattling
2. Give her a good spring interior cleaning to get all the salt out of the carpets, and a thorough exterior wash/wax as soon as the snow finally f@%ks off

Do you use a license plate frame? Sometimes, people dont have the bottom of the plate securely mounted inside the frame and therefor it rattles away.

Most of my steering wheel lights just went out

Yes my steering wheel lights had gone out as well. For anyone with bulbs out especially in the steering wheel or HVAC and Navigation buttons might I suggest replacing them all instead of just the burnt out ones. I learned the hard way was not thinking and only ordered burnt out ones. I later went back and replaced all. For instance when doing HVAC bulbs might as well order the Navigation menu ones because they will go out and it is such a pita to go back through removing everything.

Yeah, i've been meaning to track down that diy that lists all the bulbs and steps. Plus you want them to all be the same color.

Yes I learned that to. I am in the Chantilly Va and see your in the area so if you have any questions or run into trouble feel free to ask me leedog. I have replaced all of them except the overhead console sunroof button and door window and locks but I believe those are not replaceable without sodering. I also have a friend at a local dealer that can get the bulbs at wholesale pricing so shoot me a pm If you need them. He knows his stuff and can make sure you get the wright ones.

It would fall nicely in line with my next oil change. I work in San Diego county but the only shops i'd trust to are up in LA.

They said I had about 20% brake pad life left when I had it inspected at 51k. I do a lot of highway commuting so I could drive 100 miles a day and barely touch the brakes. That and I just dropped about $500 the other weekend replacing tires, getting an alignment done, flushing brake fluid, and changing MT fluid to GM FM.

Steering control light out, left fender light just started flickering last night, needs new rear rotors and calipers, needs new endlinks, going to do oil and transmission fluid change and replace 3rd and 4th gear pressure switches.

3 slight scratches which I'll work on in a week

126k miles now...getting worried about the transmission but changing fluid and new sensors.

-subtle drift to Rt.
-subtle vibration at hwy speeds coming from Rt. front (yes, i've had it aligned, yes, i've had the wheels/tires road force balanced, and i've had the axles replaced) it still does it.
-rock chips

-headlights hazy on the inside
-driver side mirror clicks when the reverse is activated. I keep the switch off since I don't parallel park, so no biggie
-rear tires worn, front tires aren't new
-slight paint overspray on passengers side of windshield, but no chipped paint at all on the car and no frame damage or other indication of accident, yet no report/carfax of paint job
-window tint removed (who does that??? It was a dealer job on the carfax. Bad tint job I guess.) Needs tint! LOL
No rattles, no lights out, no issues with seat memory or blue tooth. Overall, the tires are my only $$ issue, the rest is cosmetic and minor. Windshield is easily fixed with a razor blade, side mirror no biggie if I don't fix it. It's garage parked weekdays, so tint not THAT big of an issue. I would like clear headlights though!!!

4 light bulbs out (2 on steering wheel & 2 on dash). Scratch on the hood, a few paint chips from rocks and a crappy tint job.

1. my sunroof ONE-TOUCH OPEN/CLOSE and TILT feature doesn't work.

anyone might have a clue why?
i can open and close it, but when i press it to the second click and let go it just stops. same when i try to press the button inwards (to tilt it while the sunroof is completely closed) it doesn't do anything at all.

i know i'm getting a bit off topic sorry.

You're actually pushing it upward, as in towards the sky? Not up and down (towards front windshield to back windshield). I won't even lie... I didn't know that for a while.

to add to my list of what is "wrong" with my car-
-my bluetooth cuts out intermittently when making or receiving calls when the phone is compatible....grrrr.
-side mirrors do not return and click when actually used in reverse. so i dont' use them and keep them turned off.
-and of course there are a few spots on the car that have cosmetic flaws that only i notice.
