what's wrong w/ Redondo Red?
#45
I orignally was goindg to go with black again. I had black on black on my 03 Type S. But I went with blue this time. I am very happy with it. I like dark color cars because when they are clean you can't beatem. The shine is immaculate. Plus I haven't seen not one Abyss TL in the 04+ model since I've owned the car. At least in the New Orleans area. That kind of makes me feel unique. Oh and I've even seen a few Redondo. Black, Silver, and White I see all the time. A few Anthracite, Desert Mist, even Deep Green but no Blue yet. Just something to think about.

When I decided to buy the TL and went to the first dealer I told them RRP with Camel interior and Navi. They asked for my second choice, I said that was it or nothing. Then they asked are Navi and Camel deal breakers? I said yes, RRP, Camel, Navi or nothing. I was told, RRP does not come with Camel, only Parchment. (LIARS!) By the way, I have since taken my RRP, CAMEL, navi back to that dealer and salesperson to show them that it does exist! Jerks. In short, yes, I went to 4 different dealers before I got my car. The last dealer looked for it for 3 days and then located it and ordered it shipped in. They had never seen this combo and were quite anxious. When it came in and they detailed it for delivery everyone was in the delivery showroom to see it, they all loved it and agreed it was very striking! So far, I have seen only 1 other with the same combo in the area. I LOVE my RRP! Get it, you will love it. I do get a lot of second looks and comments when I am parking it. Also, I have added the OEM Chrome Rims, they set it off very nicely and I have the Blue LED lighting throughout the interior. I get lots of positive comments!

I have a NBP TL, but I almost got the RRP one. It looks fantastic on a sunny day. The problem is that it looks a bit dull the rest of the time. I was deciding between white, black and red. Black looked the best but I knew it would be a pain to maintain. White looked like it would be easier to keep clean, but I was really worried about the bumper discoloration issue. Plus, white tends to make the car look a bit bloated. Red looked good, but not only would it be hard to keep clean, it didn't look as good as black and several people kept saying it was a "chick" color. Plus I was worried about the cops pulling me over since cops do tend to stop more red cars. That's not just an old wives' tale. Black looks good as long it's clean and even without sunlight. It looks strong, powerful, sleek and it's easier to sell.

Both red cars I owned in the past faded in spots - yes, they were taken care of, garaged, waxed etc. Red cars in my neighborhood are also blessed with faded trunks or roofs etc. I am sure newer paints have come a long way (my example was a new 1994 car) So I just got nervous about the red - plus, Anthracite is simply the only choice anyway

It's just not "red" enough for me. I've always had red cars but they were more cherry than the crimson that RR is. So even my friends weren't surprised when I went over the abyss... abyss blue pearl that is. They saw a RRP and agreed it wasn't "red" but rather "maroon/crimson". A guy where I work does have a RRP/Camel and it is sweet. I just preferred ABP/Camel. Anyway I'm not sure how good a TL would look with a really bright red (Like the volcanic red on a Mazda 6)

It's been a month since I ordered my red TL- still waiting . I saw several of them on dealer lots, but none with 6sp/navi. One of the dealers also sells Nissans, and TL was parked next to a red Altima. The color was exatly the same. Probably DuPont pours the paint from the same barrel to Honda, Nissan and anyone else who ask, then marketing departments come up with some idiotic names.

I love my RRP/Ebony! Sure it gets dusty the moment you detail it but even after (almost 2 years of ownership) I STILL get tons of compliments on it. I rarely see them on the road and of the ones I have seen, I have only seen ONE other RRP/Ebony

How I got my '05 RRP/Ebony was fate. I was looking for a bigger car to replace my '04 TSX and was mainly focused on the MDX or the RL, also checking out the TLs. The '06 TLs had been out for a couple of months but I didn't really want one because the improvements over the '05 were so few. But in the showroom was the RRP/Ebony TL - their last '05 with nav - and for weeks it didn't move. It was sitting there every time I swung by checking out the latest stock of the MDX and the RL. The more I saw it, the more I noticed the beautiful luster of paint, especially at night. I also really started to dig the combination of the red exterior and the black interior. Finally I come in the showroom and someone else was circling the car and mulling it over. I overhead them tell the dealer that they may come back the next day to pull the trigger. At that moment I knew I couldn't let someone else buy that car. I jumped right there and sealed the deal. Eight months later I couldn't be happier. I get compliments all the time and the car still looks elegant and sporty. I've only seen 3 or 4 others on the road and I like it that way.

I live in a non-competitive Acura market (Dixie Gulf Coast), only one Acura dealer every 50-75 miles. RRP was my first choice. Only one dealer within 250 miles had one with 5AT/Navi. Between the price and the trade allowance, she was $2K more than any of her competitors...she was WAY too pleased wit hthe fact that she had the only RRP/5AT/Navi along the Coast. I was prepared to go $500-$750 more for my first color choice, but not $2K. She let me walk away. I bought my Anth/Quartz instead, my second choice. Yes, I wanted the RRP first, but for $2K I'm living with my still-excellent second choice just fine. And, I got it from my "closest" dealer (only 55 miles away...heh).

Count another RRP TL with Ebony interior. It was that or....well, that. Told the salesman Nav also and he about fainted. Said it could be up to 90 days, and I said fine. That's what we had decided on and THAT was what it was going to be.
As for the poster above that asked about 2004 RRP/Ebony...yep, they exist, got one in the garage. <wide grin>
In fact, liked the combo SO well, have an RL (same color scheme) sitting next to it. <wink>
I added the Gold emblems and a gold pin stripe. Sure am happy with the way that all turned out!
