I replaced something on an 03 Celica that looks almost exactly like this, and matches your description of air flow. It is called a vacuum tank but I can't find it in a list of Acura parts. I think it's part of the HVAC vacuum system.

Don't think so... Its inline with the purge control solenoid valve . No where near the HVAC system. Its just over an inch long and about an inch in diameter.

That hose goes to your EVAP canister. The part on your intake is the purge control solenoid valve.
The little part is the purge joint.
Think the little guy is supposed to be one way but not sure, was doing some reading about it before since I recently replaced my purge control solenoid valve as it went out. The joint is only $8

The solenoid is listed separately on the dealer sites.
Also not to be confused with the PCV valve which is in the front cylinder head cover near the alternator.
Here:

The other end of the hose from the purge valve connects to one end of the solenoid and the other goes to the intake manifold just behind the throttle body.
Also not to be confused with the PCV valve which is in the front cylinder head cover near the alternator.
