What's with the long gas pedal?

Got my TL this morning. One word: awesome.
I've got a question or comment regarding the size of the gas pedal. I seem to have a little bit of a problem starting off in 1st gear. Not a problem with the clutch, but more with the gas pedal. I'm obviously not pressing down on the accelerator enough, as I seem to get a little hesitation in the car's response when releasing the clutch. Once I fully release the clutch and give it more gas, away she goes. But when slowly pulling away at an intersection for instance, I feel like I'm "riding" the clutch a little. I guess I'll get used to it.
Anyways, on my wrx the gas pedal size was small, about the same as the clutch and brake pedals. The TL's gas pedal reminds me of the gas pedals on most AT's, very long, with the bottom of the pedal touching the floor. It doesn't seem to allow you to be precise in how much pressure you apply. Sorta all or nothing, whereas on my wrx, I could more easily work the accelerator. Anyone feel similarily about the gas pedal? Or am I just imagining all this?

The TL's gas pedal is larger due to the fact that it is now bottom hinged like BMWs and many other german cars. I think that once you get used to it, you might even like it.

The TSX also has the same type of gas pedal. It is the only thing on both the TSX and the TL that has taken me quite a bit of time to get used to.

I believe the bottom hinged gas pedal has something to do with the drive by wire system

I dont believe so specifically, My wifes 04 Maxima also has trottle-by-wire, howerver the pedal is the normal type not hinged to the floor.

DBW should have no linkage directly to this pedal design. Acura just wants to make 04TL fresh. More sporty looks as other cars.

Its a beautiful thing. Stops your foot from slipping off the pedal. Save the small pedals for the Civic's.
