Besides looking kinda cool, what are the benefits of the new TL's projector type headlights. Are they any better,...or worse than the 03's reflective headlamps?

And, is this the new trend in automotive design? It seems like the Majority of new cars are still using the reflective lights.

 

Projectors allow a more precisely directed beam of light as opposed to the more general reflectors. This is not a new trend ( in my opinion) as Porche and many Mercedes and other cars have had these for years, but it is deifnately a step up from the standard.
