What is your occupation/how do you afford the 3G TL? MERGED THREADS
#241
[QUOTE=2004TL_believer]Love this TL so much just bought an MDX for the wife. With those two cars have a big chunk of payments. But I have a a car investment fund that makes the payments for me. Meaning the interest I generate makes my payments for me and the investments don't depreciate like the cars do. The only way to buy a new car and NOT loose.
IMO anyone who puts down more than taxes and reg or pays their car off at anytime is throwing the money away.
Where and what type of return are you getting on your "car investment fund"?
Thanks!

I'm fat and I sometimes dress like trash and go shopping at this ritzy mall and when I pick up my 03 TL from the valet, I love how people stare. It's fun. OK, I make under 50 a year and I work for a car company but I can't say which one. It's the best job I have ever had and I hope to be there until I retire. You know what too, I have been in LA on business for 11 days and still have a few more to go. I miss my wife, my daughter, even my dog but damn, I miss that car too.

just as a funny side note. My bachelor party a few years ago - we went to the infamous GoldClub - of all the strippers that night, the ugliest one was from Wisconsin...hahaha

NathanSilver, it's not that I can't say, I just choose not to say. And even if I did say which company, I'm still a nobody in the company so it would not make a difference. I work in the fabrication shop of this company and our department hand assembles prototype vehicles as a major part of what we do. It is a kick ass job but the only reason I am on this board is because I have a TL and enjoy reading about and talking to other people with TL's as well, that's all. I do take your post humorously, though and I definately don't want to kill anyone. Eric.

I put down 6K, and financed at 4.14% for 5 years - but I work for Honda of America Manufacturing, and we get a nice discount on the TL. We're a two income family, I'm an engineer, the wife is a high school guidance counselor.

OK, yes, after reading my original post it did seem a little snooty, sorry. I still love Acura/Honda and I am passionate (in a manly way) about my TL as many of us are and that is why I am here. I posted on this thread just to give another input to a good original question. Eric.

I own an Auto Body Repair Shop down in Florida and bought my first Acura when I was 17. A new 1986 Acura Integra. Paid for it myself with a lot of hard work. Kept buying them through the years. This time I decided to lease the car and pay for it through the business. My first lease, not to sure I like leasing it. This is the first car ive owned ( sorry had, forgot I dont own it) that doesnt feel like mine. Thats the price you pay for leasing I guess. Still wouldnt trade it for any other though type of vehicle except maybe my next car the New RL with that AWD and 300 HP. But thats a few years away.

Engineer - roughly 60k
Wife - Nurse (new grad...yeah!) - 40k
Plus a few other sources of income...
$800 house note.
No other car payments...just paid off my F150
Got some on a CC, but it's 0% I think of it as a free loan...
This car is definitely on the upper end of what I feel comfortable buying, but I will keep it for a long time and don't plan on getting tired of it...

I am a professional troll on car forums. I get paid by the word, as you can probably guess. I've been lying all along about owning a TL. Actually I drive a '92 Sable. As it turns out professional trolling doesn't pay so well.

I am astonished at how many young people have posted here, both as very
successful professionals and students.
I'm 40+ and this is by far the nicest car I've owned to date. I grew up in
a middle class family, but I didn't have my own car until I was 22 and able
to afford one on my own . . . a 3 year old VW Rabbit!
It is interesting to note how much more affluent younger people are today . . .
both on their own, and through the success of their parents.
