Question what is your maximum amount of a gas fillup?

Someone has probable both this up before but please enlighting me on this subject

I see that the 2006 has a 18.5 gallon tank.

My maximum fillup has been 12.8. gallons. My Mileage gauge said that I only had about 25 mile left. How could that be true if I have an 18.5 gallon tank?

Our TL's have a 17 gallon tank.

The most I've done on a fillup was 13.5.

its for emergency purposes, to make you believe you have less gas than you actually do, so you dont run out of gas...

There is a "buffer" there to prevent a complete exhaustion of fuel if you go simply by the gauge or the trip computer. I estimate that I could probably drive another 40-50 miles after the trip computer zeroed out on the distance left before empty. Unless you were driving like a bat out of hell (WOT and such) right before a fill-up, I would say your numbers are a bit off.

As has been said many many times. Its the emergency reserve.
dont top off. dont let the fuel tank go below the fuel pump level.

I'm kind of curious where the fuel pump is in our fuel tank. I need to find a schematic.

fyi...

you shouldn't be topping off your tank

it releases fumes and the extra gas you're paying for will probably stay inside the hose anyway...

^^^ Appreciate the link. I read through the article, and although there may be some merit behind the fumes issue, I find their statement of wasting money because the fuel I purchased by topping off my tank is sitting in the hose for the next customer is a crock. If that was really the case, then wouldn't the same thing happen if I didn't top off? The pump shuts off, and the fuel that already left the pump and traveled into the hose is going to sit there in the same fashion that they claim when one tops off. I don't know... Sounds like some CA bureaucrat bullshit to me. Besides, I like the smell of gasoline. lol

Anyways, back on track...For those of you living on Mars (or are just too inexperienced to know any better), it is pretty much standard practice to always keep your gas tank filled at the minimum of a 1/4-tank. This helps prevent pump overheating and minimizes bad gas caused by excessive water in the fuel.
