This thread might be in the wrong place but i dont really know where else to put it ....
I have always other peoples cars especially my own. Since the day I purchased my TL I have treated the car like it was my child. I go out of my way to make sure the car stays in good clean condition because one day Im gonna trade it in on a newer TL. I park far away from other cars not to get any dents or dings, and I drive with caution on the road because half the people on the road dont pay attention anyway, and I wash and wax the car probably more than needed... So heres the story
The 2nd week of owning the car, I walk outside of the girlfriends house only to find a smashed read window, and a large dent that appeared to have been created by a hammer on the rear passenger door. I believe as they were trying to break the window they missed and hit the door. About $800 dollars later they replaced the window and repaired the hammer dent by filling it with bondo and painting over it...of course it never looked the same...
Well, after moving to Louisiana, the TL has been egged, covered with old banana's and syrup, and then two days ago it looks like someone vandalized the car...they put another large dent exactly adjacent to the previous hammer dent and then the vandals got angry at my hood and decided to punch a large dent in that also....i could tell because I saw the fist imprint....not only that, they then decided to pour what I think was beer pretty much over the entire vehicle.
Ok...so i got some dents, well that can be fixed right?...I take it to the dent guy and Im not exactly sure how they remove dents...but he said that as he was pulling the dent out, the bondo from the previous dent wasnt cured enough and it began to rise which created a bunch of little millimeter sized craters in the paint, not only that, but he thought it would be a good idea to take some scratches out of the door...except in reality just added many more really bad swirl marks to the car.
The point is....I love the car (like most people in this forum do)...the door now looks like shit...and the car is no longer in the condition which i bought and kept it in. I know it could be worse, but what pisses me off is that none of this was my fault. I dont understand cartain people and why they cant have respect for other peoples property.... Im starting to think about selling the TL and riding around in a 92 accord until I can get a garage ....end rant.
p.s. I know how you guys like pictures....but i dont have any, Sorry.

Go take the "classic IQ test" online... I do every now and then, it's free and I love seeing that I'm smarter than 98% of the population... It explains so much... In your case (provided you hit a similar score), you'll feel a lot better about why your car looks like shit.
that sucks man. got any enemies?
unfortunately, when ya own a car, shit happens. i had bad luck with my black car, people kept hitting it and backing into it and it was painted like 4 times. never looked the same. a car is never gonna look as good as it did the day ya bought it
your case is a little different, its out of sheer disregared for human decency.. and unfortunately, again, shit happens....
i try to park isolated, i have a driveway atleast, and im a light sleeper. nobody has ever vandalized any of my cars and the day they do,i plan to catch em.
p.s. invest in an alarm... Viper SST5900... its a 2 way responder w/ ultra tunability in the shock zones and the clicker works 1 mile away (ive tested it, hit about 3/4 of a mile) it will give you peace of mind.. a nice bright flashing alarm LED or too will surely intimidate others.. every car i have owned, i had a sick alarm and put lots of security like LED's and scanners in tasteful positions... i feel like that turned alot of thiefs and vandals away
alarm retails for $699 installed. you can find it for under $300 from DEI directly. install is a bitch

yea go for the viper line... SST 5900 is pricey.. the old school 791vx is always a good choice.. same alarm, just not the same range for the 2way. having a 2 way is great. you'll know the instant somebody fcks with your car, and you'll be ready to run after them or get your car keys and find em!
good luck with your problems.

That should answer your question why people don't respect your property and the direction society is headed.
Naturally, certain areas of the country are worse than others.
Sorry to hear this. I get upset just reading your story, imagine if it was my car.
Just a thought ... wouldn't it be better to just find a door in a junk yard and having them paint the whole thing instead of patching up the same door twice?

Man, you've had the worst luck. I can only think that a TL is considered a high end car in Lafayette and people are doing this because they think your rich or something.
I'm way up in yankee country and have no idea what the area is like where you live.
I agree with the post about replacing the door. But in any case, find a different body man. Even with repairing, it still should look good if they do it right.
Good luck, I hope your bad run ends soon.

I HATE vandals and thieves. You seem to have it bad where you are, though. I've been getting pissed off lately because even though I live in a nice neighborhood, we still have bratty fuckin kids who find it amusing to egg cars. They've done this twice so far this fall, getting my mom's car which is parked on the street, our next door neighbor's grandmother's car, and a bunch of cars in the rest of the neighborhood. This one guy got his Mercedes egged and the paint peeled off when he tried to clean it. I'm sick and tired of having to scrub dried egg off my mom's car. They did this last year, too. I feel like sitting out there in the dark with a bb gun or something. Fuckin asshole kids. :angryfire

Blackura_NY, I had the 791xv installed on my 03 TL-S and, not only is it a 2way, but the range was a 1/4 mile which is more than enough to be alerted to the problem outside your job or home. The extended range is only convenient for arming it if you forget to lock your car up or warming the car up (which I loved using mine for). I think the difference between that model and the 9500 is the type of 2way frequency. One is FM, and the other is something else. But OP, if you get the Viper 791xv, you will be happy. Lots of different things you can add to it like tilt sensor so you can know when someone is jacking up your ride to steal your rims! I loved that option! I also have a Galaxy 5100RS on my Legend. That was my first 2way, and had the best display of all the 2ways. In case you don't know, 2way means the remote controls the alarm, but the alarm also sends signals back to the remote, like in the event of theft or vandalism, but also status indications which appear on the display of the remote. Very cool! I don't have an aftermarket installed on my 06 TL because it never went off in the 1 year I had the 03 TL-S, so I felt it was overkill. Now I have the Early response Lo-Jack to call me and wake my ass up if someone stole it!
OP do you leave things of value in your car? That is a good reason for a break-in, and if you constantly have vandalism problems without theft, guess what? Either in class or whatever (could be someone jealous of you and your girl or mad at your girl) - but you have an enemy! So yeah, get some protection. They have alarms that take a picture of the vandals now, so plenty of ways to curb this senseless abuse if you want.
Good luck!
that sucks... I do anything for my car is like a child for me... I understand your position, is unfair... If for some reason something happens to my car it better be my fault and not anothers persons fault cuz there i could react nasty.
yea.. i went to school there last yr but didnt have as much trouble as u but yea there is this one place there that sells car shit for cheap may be able to hook u up wit security...ill let u know the name if the place as soon as i remember it...

For example, about a year ago I was driving my Jeep(this was before I bought my TL) It was winter and it had just snowed but the streets were all salted so the roads were mainly just wet. Anyway, I'm minding my business driving down this road and as I'm driving the next oncoming car is making a right onto a side road. Well this asslick behind him decides he doesn't want to brake so he decides to drive around him int MY lane where MY car just happened to be in. I had to slam on my brakes and cut the wheel to the right. My jeep (which was in 4-wheel drive at the time) did a 270 degree spin and hydroplaning into a small ditch on the side of the road. Thankfully me and my car werent hurt but do you think this fuck or anyone else stopped to ask if I was alright considering I just narrowly missed having a head-on collision doing 50mph? Nope. Actually the last I saw the piece of shit was flying down the road. I didn't even see his brake lights light up to even see if I was ok. The rest of the people driving just kept on going like I was sitting in a ditch site seeing. You can only hope people get whats coming to them later on.

I don't know about where you live, but in MD, deadly force can not be used to stop someone from stealing or vandalising your car. Deadly force can only be used when you are in life-threatening, or believe yourself to beso, and have no other means of escape. Even in your own home. If you could've gotten out of the back window safely, then no, it wasn't necessary to use deadly force. Sucks.
Having said that...it makes no such stipulation on beating the shit out of someone at gunpoint!
Could be people who see you baby your car too much and got jealous and hate. Like one time when I was driving around a crowded parking lot in the mall trying to find a parking spot and there was none. It was a very crowded day with a lot of people driving around waiting for a spot. There was 2 corvettes there that double park because they afraid someone might ding or scratch their car. That kind of piss me off when someone did that. Kind of inconsiderate thinking that their car is above everyone else and babying it too much.

So, do you get the insurance, then have a friend vandalize your car to ensure the insurance company actually pays - and if so, then you ready it for the "shitheads" of the world??
Hmmmm. I think I'll just take their word for it and hope it never happens... :-)
