What would you like to see in future TLs?
What would you like to see Acura to add in future TLs?
Granted the car is a good value now, but i'd pay more if it added more.
Keeping it cheap :
1) Plays MP3 files (CDs)
2) AUX Inputs for iPods and other mp3 players
3) AC outlet (I think there are 2 cigarette lighters right now) - great for cell phones and computers
4) Side blinking turning lights on the side mirrors replacing the lower side blinkers
When people change lanes, they can't see your side blinker because it's too low on the TL whereas the RL and TSX have higher side blinkers, which are located on the side mirrors
5) Tire pressure monitor
Expensive add ons
1) Plays DVD on navi screen
2) Rear passenger seats fold down for extra trunk space
3) AWD
Esthetics :
1) TSX door handles
2) More wood for the parch interiors
I have not driven a BMW so i don't know if they have cool stuff that the TL could possibly add.
Lexus has that rear screen to keep the sun out - not sure if that's for the TL crowd but great for baby on board.
Please tell me if my ideas are crazy as I plan to send these requests into Acura.

My top three (in no particular order) would have to be:
Navi voice command to support street level commands (like, "Go to 123 N. Main St.", rather than just "Find nearest...").
SH-AWD
Tire Pressure Monitoring System.

Bejocund, I hate to be the one to have to tell you this, but our side markers don't blink with our turn signals. I've seen some TLs where it has been modded to do this, but it requires a couple circuits and a few hours of work. I wish the TL had side blinking mirrors like on the TSX. To me, this is a lapse in safety design on Honda's part.

Folding rear seats is a big one for me too, but here's one I haven't seen mentioned on here yet:
All the windows and the moonroof should be able to be shut with the keyfob.
Currently, the keyfob can open them, but you have to use the key in the lock to shut them.
Mercedes and BMW allow you to open and shut everything with just the keyfob. Come on Honda! WTF!?!

Keep in mind the DVD on Navi is not an expensive add-on. Our car is more than equipped to play a DVD video disc. It has the DVD-rom drive in the trunk for NAVI. And also i found out that if a player can play DVD-audio it is well capable of playing a DVD-video. It is just the fact that the TL's are controlled or desgined NOT to allow the playback of DVD through software and other means. The new cadillac XLRs play DVD when the car is in park, so i think Acura should step up...

Wish list:
1) MP3, SACD and AACPlus audio;
2) Aux audio input (e.g., iPod, other audio devices);
3) XM Traffic integrated into NAV system like the RL;
4) Total keyless entry like RL; and
5) A completely redesigned nose.
The designers went 95% of the way in the TL Euro-redesign. But, the nose still has that characteristic Honda/Toyota/Nissan boring look that has been with us for the past 20 years. I would like to see a nose that looks more along the lines of the Mercedes or BMW style. I also like the look that RonJon has on the drawing table (available in 2005). They could lock-down the look of the car with these changes.

For me, I'd rather see Acura fix all the problems first. The rattles, the vibrations, better paint job, better tranny. Then I would love to see all the features everyone is talking about. Wishful thinking I suppose.

The first thing I'd like to see would be a move toward at least some options available above and beyond the standard equipment. They should keep their current trend of including many things other companies have as options, but should still offer other things as options above and beyond the norm.
On the sedan model:
*no-cost/low-cost AWD option
*Better audio system standard (it always seemed kinda muddy to me, maybe it's better after you've owned it a while?) w/ mp3/aac playback instead of DVD-A, and a readout that is actually useful for scrolling through folders of mp3s
*Less interior plastics, especially on the doors
*real foglights
*Keyless go
*rear distance sensors for parking
*panorama sunroof
*TPM (tire press. mon.) with actual psi values for each wheel
*standard Projector HIDs with auto-leveling and curve sensing, (incl. heated washers on Luxury model)
*Choice b/w Luxury or Performance models (different suspensions, including wheels & tires, trim, other small features)
---*18" wheels/high performance tires standard on Performance model
---*17" wheels/all-season higher series tires standard on Luxury model
---*sport springs/struts on Performance model, with slightly lowered center of gravity
---*very little visible wheelgap b/w top of tire and fender/wheelwell on Perf model due to lower sport springs.
---*real wood trim on Luxury model
---*non-tacky silver/alum trim on Performance model
---*electronic trunk closer on Luxury model
---*power rear-window sunshade on Luxury model
Note: They're currently losing some sales from former last-gen TL owners, due to the new TL's harsher ride. I'd like to see them resolve that - not by returning to a softer TL, but by doing what they could have done in '04, which is to offer two different setups from the ground up - suspension, wheels/tires, and interior trim & features.
There's no reason they can't offer a Luxury model with 17" wheels, all-season tires with 50 or 55 series sidewalls, softer springs and lighter valved struts, real wood trim, and a few additional amenities that won't up the cost too much. And a Performance model with 18" wheels, 40-45 series tires, the A-spec springs/struts, nice silver painted or alum trim, and a couple sport-oriented features.
The two models would balance out in price so that the decision is not influenced by the pricing, but purely by what people prefer more - luxury or performance, while maintaining a base of both in each. Both will still be luxury sports sedans, but they will grab both markets fully instead of the current situation of luxury people willing to put up with a harsh ride or performance people willing to put up with FWD.
On the coupe model:
*RWD standard
*AWD option
*TPM (tire press. mon.) with actual psi values for each wheel
*Keyless go option
*50/50 folding rear seats
*18" wheels/tires standard
*sport suspension standard
*very little visable wheelgap b/w top of tire and fender/wheelwell.
*standard Projector HIDs with auto-leveling and curve look-ahead
*Should weigh less and have equal or better hp/tq than sedan model.
*Convertible version available second model year
So I guess I'd want more luxury, more features, and more performance. But that would come at a higher price, so who knows.

3. Tire pressure mon but not run flats
4. Fold down rear seats
5. MP3, SACD with ID tags displayed.

8. XM traffic
9. Dual sun visors
10. Agree with different front end of car/nose
11. Play DVD's on Nav screen and factory option for 7" displays in headrest (JAG now has it). Make each LCD be able to work independantly with its own DVD slot and allow all to view same show.
12. Close windows and moonroof with key fob.
13. Side markers in/on side mirrors. I wouldn't mind blinkers on side of body though.
14. All windows touch up and down.
15. 8 way power passenger seat
16. Power Tel steering wheel
17. Much better leather that more durable.
18. actively ventilated a/c seating front and rear.
19. Auto leveling headlights that turn with steering.
20. HUD
21. Night vision

28. Day time running lights
29. Auto rear shade and manual pull up side shades in rear.
30. DirectTV tuner with tivo- they have a locking DTV sat that fits on a hummer now. Saw it on "Tactical to Practical". need to make it smaller and hidden.
31. "Radio Tivo" to record XM or airwaves shows and playback later.
32. Data transmit or link to home computer to link phonebook/contacts, Nav or trip planned routes and MPG/MID/Status reports
33. Removable Harddrive for security (and heat) for all of the above.

Suzuka Master
Ventilated seats
Power folding side-view mirrors
Power tilt/telescoping wheel
Auto up/down on all windows
18.5 gallon gas tank, or larger
Rear park assist or camera
Excluding the park assist, all of the above listed options would not be too expensive to add at the factory and would match what is currently available on the Maxima, minus the ventilated seats.

Wow!
I did not expect this many replies.
Everyone should email Acura with their wish list. I know I am planning to.
BTW, please keep your requests realistic.
If Acura made these changes, I'd swap my 05 in a heartbeat.

TL-SHAWD 6MT Rocks!
Allow the NAVI screen to display pictures (inserted with a memory stick or Flash Card),
that same memory stick could be use to play MP3 songs...!
AWD,
16 leves of Adjustable suspension and height (TEIN has them). from plush to super sport!
Noise Cancelling like the RL
Directional Headlights
sun-sensing automatic tinting for all side and rear windows.
full-size spare with standard rim (not the crappy 50 mile range one)
hydraulic jack built underneath the car, just push a button... (they are really cheap)
Ventilated seats NOT heated seats for the south!
it's freaking 110 degrees here sometimes you know! (in the shade)

Also lets not forget, a lot of these options are going to cost you, and a good amount of them can be put on after market, like the window roll up module, dvd player, different audio, tires, springs, fog lights, etc etc etc. I say add a few things to the TL, most important all wheel drive, remote starter, and make a 2 door version of it, 300hp or so, and then we have a winner.
