The navigation will cost over $1450, don't know if I want to spend the money on that just yet.

paint what ever you have messed up the same color of the car, what ever money you have left, spend it freely on whatever you want........................................if hes painting your car for 1000-1500..........its extremely cheap.....................make sure he uses good paint (PPG)..and a good clear (CHROMOBASE)

compared to a 3k option from the dealer... this NAVI option is literally a steal...

True but if you consider the value of a used 3G TL w/ navi & without.. It could be cheaper to sell high and buy low.

Hope you marry her... Those type of women are rare.

Take that money, buy tickets to go on a mini vacation. You both would appreciate it more, you will understand because MOST of us have it the other way around where our ladies don't approve of such things with our cars and let alone some of the younger ladies don't have more than 100 to spend on their b/f anyway..

Paint the TL

I have two options that my girlfriend is giving for me for Christmas.

1) Get my car painted to Kona Blue Metallic (Ford color/ my choice). Have a friend that does body work and he does for cheap with quality work. (Will not be painting door jambs, but it wouldn't be that huge of a difference because both are dark colors...)

2) Take $1000 and spend it on other things like J-pipe, fogs, suspension, navigation etc...

I have a 06 TL with no navigation with blacked out tail lights along with JNC V2 headlights. I already have a body kit along with wheels/tires. I took off all my performance options before and sold them because I took care of my little cousin for 6 months. I don't want performance (HP wise) at the moment until I get enough funds for the turbo. I do have a lot of marks on my car. Someone backed up and hit my car in the rear (and then fled) so the paint is chipped. The front bumper has about a million rock chips due to 18 wheelers in Texas.

I've been pondering over this for the past week and can't make up my mind. The blue looks really nice, unique than any other TL, and matches perfectly with my silver rims or I can possibly re-paint my rear bumper and add some mods.

Hmm...

I Would Def Paint the TL, You will see it every day and REALLY Enjoy how it looks. MODS.. Its quick enough- stock has plenty of power, you do not have to Beat on it all the time. I would actually try to get the closest color to your door jams as possible. that way the car will not depreciate much and it will not be such a sore eye when the doors are open. Also when you go to sell Buyers will not actually notice to ask many questions.

Paint her YOUR buddy knows paint, trust in him let him paint it and detail it for you.
Good luck with your choice...

also how many miles are on it now?

Car needing paint isn't repairs.. just my 2 cents. Best of luck with whatever you decide.
