What would you do . . . . .

So I opened a thread over in the RL Forum and I thought that it would also be a good question over here for you guys to answer. Since I am a former TL owner it would interest me to see what you guys think . . . . .

What would you guys do if you found out that the TL is no longer going to be manufactured, they just stopped from one day to another, including parts, what would you drive ? What would be your choices and why? Look forward to reading what your thoughts are.

It wouldn't be a big deal to me if the TL were no longer manufactured. There are currently many competitors out there that give the TL a run for its money. I'm looking to step into a M45 in a few years I think. I also would like to see if Mercedes would redesign the E55 amg or not. Granted both cars are much more expensive than the TL. But I think people always end up buying more expensive cars than the previous one.

It's a pretty well represented and competitive segment. I wouldn't have any trouble finding a replacement.

I'd like the 335i, but price-wise could end up with the G35, IS350 or ES350 (that'd be my wife's choice).

Im looking into getting a TL and I would much rather have it over any g35 or is350, but thats obviously my personal preference. I base that on the fact 2 family members have both cars and neither impress me when it comes to interior. Also if your a speed fanatic you obviously shouldn't be looking into these types of cars, I could take any one of them in my WRX.

So to answer the question if TL was cut off from reproduction I would probably go with a modded A4, or the new S4 comming out.

I have owned all three cars in the past and let me tell you, as far as best bang for the buck the TL wins no doubt. But when it comes to quality build the TL is the bottom of the list. I sold my 06 g35 and got an IS350, then got rid of the IS and bought a TL-Type S(bad mistake). Got rid of the TL recently cause I cannot wait any longer for Acura to to fix the problems.
Acura thinks by stiffing the suspension will create better handling. Everytime I hit a lane reflector(those thing between the white lines), feels like the car is about to fall apart. The other cars handles the same if not better and still gives a comfortable ride.
TL- Valve chatter, obnoxiously loud suspension, groaning moaning brakes, everytime the AC compressor kicks on , it jerks the whole car.
Had to suffer the lost it was a must for me, worst car I ever own. Sorry if I offended any of you TL-ers. These are most common problem for most people on here. I hope you Acura gets the fix for you guys soon.

Your hypothetical has no basis no reality

In case you are doing this for a polling company (sponsored by some car manufacturer), I would answer your question by saying M35x. Simple reason, a better car Better yet, an RL

used 760LI, you can grab one for about 55-65K used, pretty good price considering the RL is about 10 grand less new.

I have thought of a similar question in the past. Well, since I would not be able to afford a nicely equipped (or even stock) 335, I would do a major downshift for a couple of years - something like a n-used Accord. No other $30s car appeals to me right now.

I'm a vette guy. I sold my Z06 cause i had a kid and didn't drive it anymore. I would probably pick up a used CTS-V, 300C SRT8, Charger SRT8, E55 AMG or wait for the Pontiac G8. Actually i got my TL because i great deal on it, but i only plan on being in it for a year or so. I really want to check into the G8's after the first year production run..

I need horsepower..

Kenny, I did it as you said a hypothetical question, just to stir up some conversations, hence the "what would you do" part. no I am not sponsored by a car company, no I don't have ulterior motives, it was just for the sake of conversation, that was all. I drive an Acura myself, so it was just a thought that crossed my mind.

Well, except that you drive an RL and it's very possible you'll wake up one day next October and find out that they *really* aren't making them anymore. ( ) .

I'm with the crowd I guess...
335, G37... My boss picked up a fully optioned 2006 RL with 20K miles on it for $39K. I'd even go that route... but you have to spend another $20K importing legend parts to make it look the way you want.

Prolly going back to rollin 4x4s once I get bored with the TL... For now, I love the ease of being able to zip around and haven't much need for utility, but that could change... I sometimes really do miss the utility aspect of trucks, and as a result I'm on kind of a hiatus from activities such as Hunting, Snowmobiling, Fishing, Camping, etc. But I've got plenty of "TL related" activities going in the meantime, things like Flying, Astronomy, Kid Haulin and R/C Flying/Building.

ah yes that too. but then my point would be made clear y sell a car all parts are obsolete for? I was just returning it officer i thought theyd like something to fix with the parts they dont make anymore. but then again i probably wouldnt go to jail and get slapped with a fine.
