what does the car come with? is there navi? how's the car condition; paint, seats, etc.? maintenence?

your offer depends on those kinds of things, also what's KBB say?

maybe get a diagnostics test? <-- i didn't do that for mine btw lol car had 11k on it..but maybe i should have

16 is a bit high IMHO. Since it doesn't have nav and was wrecked I would not go much higher than 15 and that's if the car is in average condition as far as paint and interior. 16 is fair if it is in great shape though.

With Navi that would be around a good deal; without it, not so much.

It's not a bad deal by any means, but I think you'll find better deal if you keep your eye out for a few days. 14.5-15 would be a better price for his car, assuming the interior is in good condition. I've been keeping an eye out for TL's for over a month, and for 16 I would expect around 40k and excellent condition with maintenance records.

It sounds like I'm asking a lot, but I guarantee you'll be happier if you are patient. Assuming he won't budge on price, anyways. Also remember, buying from a dealer, you can negotiate the cost of taxes and licensing into your negotiation price, not to mention are a place to go. Personal sellers don't have that luxury, and it seems like he's charging a dealer price.
