Cool What type of 3M for A spec

Please,

Point me in the right direction. I had to remove the Aspec to do my bumper fogs...and change the rears tails. I have NO double sided tape holding it now. I've tried like 5 times to redo the front but it doesn't stay.

I use rubbing alcohol to prep the surface...I use the $10 roll of 3M gray double sided from autozone but it doesn't hold. Someone suggested epoxy, but I'm not too keen on putting it on the paint cause it's a chemical reaction and if one day I take off the Aspec (Why, I don't know!) I don't want the paint damaged. It seems the 3M stuff isn't thick enough to hold and make contact with the bumper AND lip kit. I've tried doubling and tripling it up, but to no avail. It comes apart.

What are you all using to do this?

Thank you,
Jeremy.

i usually use this, and heat it up a little so it gets a little soft before putting it down on the car.

also, try swinging by a body shop and try to find 3M adhesion promoter. i used this on my sarona in addition to tape and its pretty solid.

good luck!

Thanks man...maybe the promoter is what I need to make it work. That is the type of tape I have...but it's a little thinner...maybe I'll do two strips side by side or something.

the tape that oem acura/honda uses is 3M Molding Tape. it has a red backing film. it looks like this, but i got one thats a bigger size.

hope that has helped you and everyone else who wants to know as it seems to be a common question.
