What are some signs A/T Type S tranny is starting to fail....

RPM's rising up and down when going up-hill, flares in between shifts, loss of power under 2500 RPMS are some signs.
The failures are often caused by heat, so if you install a trans cooler it can help prevent failure. Also changing out the fluid often (like every 15-30K miles via 3x3) is also a good option.

I wouldn't worry about the 07-08 Base and Type S tranny. There are little to none reported failures. I haven't even done 3x3 drain and fills, only drain and fill once at like 70k miles (at 105k now), and it shifts like butter, and my fluid is pinkish/red.

When you say flares in between shifts, do you mean the rpm rises suddenly before shifting?
When I shift the rpm sorta lags about a split second then shifts on M and on D my car shifts at 3k, maybe I have a heavy foot.
I have 135,847 miles should I drain and fill the fluid? I mean even if you say no I'll probably end up doing it....but I've read stories where the tranny went out after draining or flushing....

I would do all of the regular maintenance - a 3x3 with a quality fluid like Redline D4, 3rd and 4th gear pressure switch change, an ATF filter change and see if this resolves any issues you may see.

drain and fill should be done since the car was new up to 20k miles.

Damn those prices are banditry... Price for the 2 switches at the stealership here in Canada are $96 and $71, and the prices are usually twice that of US prices. Job takes an hour at best!

I have 07 type S and have been religious with 3.3 quarts drain and fill every other oil change. I change my oil at 30%-40% every time RUNS Strong and Smooth 175K miles.

My car has 122k on it and I do the same every other oil change dump the fluid.Btw trans shifts like butter. My car always has/had been serviced religiously at the Acura dealer and my Tech says leave pressure switches ALONE.It will throw a MIL when they need to be changed,if it aint broke don't fix it.
