Maybe you should be in a BMW...oops some of them, Z & X versions, are built in a factory in Sound Carolina.

Maybe a Toyota , nah factories in California & Ohio. Does anyone know if they still share the California factory with GM?
it doesn't matter where it's built that much, it still doesn't make it an america car.

unless it's one of the big 3...Ford, Chrysler, GM...it is not an american car.

TL's styling was designed in california...and i'm sure it was done with japanese supervision....just like the us factory's quality control.

I assume you don't mean per car... right? At 150k miles, I assume that you would have only changed the belt 1X at that point.

Mine is an 04 with 97K so far and no problems. I put almost 100 miles a day on the car, and will reach 150 by late next year. Look around--almost every car Honda has sold since the early 80's is still on the road. I expect that the 3G's will just be getting started at 150. 300K is another matter. Would the car hold enough value by then to justify the cost of repairs to less essential systems? Probably not.

And as repair costs increase it may reach the point where it might not even be cost effective to keep a car past 200K mi, we're talking about hourly rates at some shops at $120 an hour.

I'm sure he means he's done four seperate TLs. The suggested timing belt maintenance is 105K, 90K would be the earliest, I'd imagine.

I plan to keep mine for a few years as well and knowing that I drive a lot the car will get close to 200k. My last TL, an 02 TL-S, was sold at 150K and the one prior to that, an 00 TL, is still in the family with 240k miles .

Bottom line: Japanese cars, if maintained correctly, run for a LONG time. The worst things on Japanese cars seem to be the trannies (Subaru, some Acuras) and rust problems.

That's my opinion on this matter.
I agree.
1986 Subaru GL 4wd = 145k, just donated it, transmission/rust problems.
1990 Nissan Maxima SE = 137k, still having fun
2007 Acura TL, I expect 150k. The only problem I see about keeping a TL for a long time is that when the extended warranty is up, getting some things fixed like the Nav will be very expensive.
