What to look for in a TL?
What to look for in a TL?
I'm sure this has probably been asked a million times, but just humor me. My G35C is almost paid off, and I kinda want another car to go with my G and my Altima Sedan. I don't want another 2 dr car, and I always loved the 3rd Gen TLs (TL-S is my favorite) so I wanted to get another sedan for when my Altima will be out of commission doing the turbo install in about a year or less. So my question is basic, What should I look for when getting a TL so I get the most performance and bang for the Buck?
not quite sure, what you're asking.....
if you own two cars, and one about to be turbo'd, you probably should know what to look for in a used car.
these cars are pretty much bullet proof if taken care of.
105k miles is the timing belt and water pump replacement.
if you get the 6speed, there is the infamous Honda 3rd gear grind. which is easily fixed with GM Syncromesh Friction Modified.
the TL isn't a magical unicorn, its just like any other car.
check for oil leaks, body panels not matching(although, light colors the silver and white have mismatched bumpers from the factory) all matching VINS, check all electrical components, etc.
Take it to a local mechanic and have it checked out if you're unsure.

What I'm asking for are common issues with this specific car. For instance, if someone was looking for an Altima like mine, I would tell them to check for oil consumption because some of the VQ motors had that problem. I know the basic stuff, but I'm looking for common problems associated with this specific car.
If your looking for specific issues, there arent too many. Transmission issues seem to have been corrected, although time will tell. They eat rotors and pads fairly quickly, about 15-20k with normal use for the TLS. Rattles are a issue but that is dependent on how picky you are.
