so i guess my question is an "aspec" TL just a base TL with those modifications? I am just asking because as u all might know, i am selling my car and it has all those modifications minus the aspec badge.

u will need the badge to catch the buyer's eye, if they can't tell the difference with base and aspec

The next logical question would be, "What does 'A-Spec' stand for?"

Acura Factory Performance' Renamed A-SPEC(TM) High Performance Package for 2004 TL Debuts at SEMA Performance Package
November 4, 2003 -- Las Vegas -- Acura is re-launching its Acura Factory Performance program as Acura A-SPEC, the company announced today at SEMA. When launching the program at last year's SEMA show with the announcement of a performance kit for the Acura RSX Type-S, Acura called the program Acura Factory Performance. The name change was made to brand Acura's program and differentiate it from Honda Factory Performance, a similar program for Honda vehicles. SEMA showAcura RSXHonda vehicles
"A-SPEC stands for the highest level of quality and engineering, and more accurately reflects the standard we're striving for with our high performance accessory package program," said Jim Roach, American Honda vice president of the Parts Division.
Acura announced today that an A-SPEC kit for the 2004 TL will be available in November. The kit features track-tuned shocks and springs that lower the car by approximately one inch. These suspension modifications combine with performance brake pads (on automatic transmission-equipped models) 18x8.5 alloy wheels fitting with Yokohama high performance tires to provide a firm, aggressive driving experience while still maintaining comfort during every day driving. A deck lid (or rear wing) spoiler and aero kit are also included. Both are manufactured to match factory-molded components and are color matched to factory specifications. alloy wheelsaggressive drivingdeck lid
Although an MSRP for the package has not yet been determined, it will be priced at approximately $5,000 not including installation. Like all A-SPEC kits, the TL performance package must be installed by an authorized Acura dealer and will be covered under a full factory warranty.
"The new 2004 TL has a high performance engine and chassis with styling to match," said Roach. "The A-SPEC kit takes this aggressive styling and sporty handling a step further, leaving no doubt that the new TL is an extremely stylish, performance-oriented car."
The TL A-SPEC package will include:
High performance, track-tuned shocks and springs
Performance brake pads (automatic transmission-equipped models)
Lightweight 18x8.5 alloy wheels
High performance Yokohama 235/40-R18 95W tires
Choice of deck lid or rear wing spoiler
Aero kit
A-SPEC steering wheel
A-SPEC badging

A-Spec="Acura Factory Performance"

Isn't that a great acronym?

Many cars in the 3G forum pose as A-specs but are not, including my own. The only thing A-spec-related on my TL is the body kit and trunk badge, which in reality really doesn't have a right to be there. But it looks cool.

I love how they advertise a-spec alloy wheels as lightweight... they are far from it; in fact, they are heavy as shit, lol.

the whole package is around 5k not including installation fee, so probably 8-9k i think.

so to save for this you can starve yourself, not pay your landlord/mortgage/insurance/ monthly car payment, don't drive to spend money on gas, give your girfriend/wife an IOU for you anniversary, no splurging and sell your kidney, piece of liver, a nut, bone marrow, your hair, and sell your body........for a whole month.... you should be able to pay it all off.

goodluck.

if the sticker in the driver's door jam has specs for the 18" tire pressure (39lbs front 36lbs rear) then it is a registered aspec. if yes, then something happened to the wheels at some point. if no, them this was a customer assembled aspec. how do you know you have the pads?

whew! okay i just went to check the door jam and it has the aspecs original tire size of 18in and the tire pressure you mentioned above. I was getting kind of worried. Thanks, you were a big help. "mind at ease"

i may not be 100% on that statement, but i am close. i know something is also done under the hood, like on the engine block or something, that indicates it was aspec'ed...but not sure what or where exactly. but the tire pressure sticker is also a good way to tell. glad i could help!

i believe the A spec, since it's lowered definitely gives you better handling.

I have a true 100% A-SPEC with steering wheel and all, yet my tire pressure information is for the stock 17's. So my car is not a true A-SPEC?
