Question What do you guys think of the 3rd GEN TL?

I was wondering what all the 3rd genertation TL owners think of there cars. Like luxury performance sedan, family sedan, luxury family car? The 0-60 auto thread and the comments that have been said on there makes me curious on what people think of the TL and what kind of category it is. I think its a luxury performance sedan. Anyone else agree?

^huh, the amenaties come before the sports, in other words there are way more of them. I would classify it as a Lux/performance(sporting is almost a synonim). However with the Aspec kit it could ALMOST be considered a 4 door sports car.

I think its a faster accord with a few more goodies.
It DOES have much nicer styling than the accord, and you can get it with
a V6 and a manual transmission.
You can only get the V6 manual in the accord coupe.

Its on the sporty side of a sport/luxury car, at least the manual
trans cars are.

Its not a very luxury car in any form really, to me luxury
means room, comfort, quiet, smooth ride, lots of nice features like
memory seats, mirrors and steering wheel, rain sensing wipers,
8 or 10 way power passengers seat (not just drivers), radios that
stay on untill the door is opened, auto headlights, etc.

The TL is inexpensive, the motor is fantastic, the manual trans is slick,
its fairly quiet on the hiway, the handling is VERY good.
Fuel economy is very good!

The style inside and out is nice to me, and I expect it to be reliable, a lot more
reliable than the typical German car....

My big gripe with the car is that they hide all the controls behind the steering
wheel where they can not be seen.
I can not see the wiper controls, I can not see the trip computer/tem/etc
buttons behind the wheel, why cant I get the MPG, outside temp at the same time,
and why must I scroll through other options to get to this stuff?
What were they thinking???

If you are looking for a 4 door sedan, and want front wheel drive (snow),
the TL is the top pick in its class and price range.

I really liked my VW Passat (glx), it was not as fast, did not handle
as well, but was more luxury maybe.
It was very unreliable...

For me, it's a near lux/performance family sedan. Four adults fit fine, luggage space is a little tight. The car is just the combination I wanted and expected. VW makes nice interiors for the Passat but I don't see any more luxury there. It is a German car and does drive better though.

TL has looks very cool and sexy.
Engine fits well.
Style - see above
Inside - see above
Performance -very good
Fuel - so so. mine does 16-17 in the City (New York) and 28-30 on HWY
TL has too much rattles (doors, A, B, C pillar) and very cheap console plastic sound when it goes over bumps.
I tested 5 TLs and all of them had this. May be some people do not pay attention to this or just listen to music.
PS: Maxima 1995 had zero rattles even after 9 years.

Well, the luxury comes from things like I mentioned, rain sensing wipers,
both front seats are 8 way power with 5 levels of heat, REAL wood trim
in the dash and doors, radio stays on till the door is opened, power fold
rear view mirrors, full size spare tire, there were loads of nice features
in/on the car that made it easy and pleasant to drive.
The ride was a very nice blend of comfort and handling, more on the comfort
side, the V6 was quiet and smooth, the auto trans flawless in operation,
no rattles or odd noises, very good MXV4 tires on it.

All that for a (slightly) lower price than the TL.

It was just very trouble prone.
I laugh about most of the problems talked about here, seems like real
nit picking after the passat!

I love it!

For the money it offers more of what I like than any other car out there. Fairly sporty, carries 4 people with great comfort, lots of amenities, reliable, and great styling. The G35 sedan is it's only competition. I hear a lot of people talk about the rattles, I'm hoping mine doesn't start doing it (fingers crossed with only 2K miles). I hope its more of a 04 problem, and they've made improvements on the 05. Anyhow, I suggest going and test driving one atleast.

Not to bash the TL but I took one for a test drive the other day and I was totally caught off guard by the feel of the car. The car has a real stiff feel to it due to the suspension etc.
For that amount of money I expected the car to have a softer ride, I was totally disappointed!
Then I drove a 05 v6 Accord and I was like this is what I'm talking about. Smoother ride & feel to it! I'm going to take those mxv's of and put on some yokohama avids. When I had them on my 97 they out performed the mxv's in all around driving!

When I first drove the 05 TL I also thought the ride was a little stiff. Nonetheless I traded my 03 TL type S for an 05 and have never looked back. I have had the car 9 months with zero problems. As far as the ride it is great. Took the TL to Charelston SC and was a very comfortable trip. Car averaged 31 MPG on the highway. I still think the TL is the best bargain in its class.

I don't like a soft, cushy ride and wouldn't even consider purchase of a car so suspended. I find the ride of my '04 manual TL just about perfect.. a little more firm than that of my other TL; an '05 automatic.

The new TL is a very good balance of everything I like in a sedan. My hat's off to the engineers who designed this machine. And the proof is in the sales.. this car does sell.

Good looking car with comfortable interior and enough speed to keep me happy.
It gives the boost when I ask for it.

This is the first nice car I've ever owned. I've previously driven Honda Civics for the last 12 years, 2 to be exact, each got over 100,000 miles.

This is so far and above anything else I've ever experienced. It's got looks, luxury and performance and it's affordable. What can I say?

I'm in love with my TL.

I was a GLX Passat driver, and can verify that those things were included - for $32,000 in 2000. My 2002 Jetta GLX had the same things (I called it my subversive luxury car - all the amenities, but none of the speculation about my paycheck) and cost about $26,000. I do miss the rain sensors - now I have to manually change the windshield wiper screen when the level of rain changes!

But loving the navi and the HandsFree!

Wow - mine was the opposite reaction! The Jetta GLX, my last car is a lot stiffer. I wouldn't want the Acura to be much softer of a ride than it is! The Jetta was also a little peppier from a start, but I'll take the Acura for the ride and amenities.

Near luxury sport sedan. I wouldn't call it a performance sedan since it's a FWD car. Very refined engine and clumsy automatic transmission. Lots of rattles that drive you nuts.

I love this car! It has everything I want . . . well . . . enough to keep me happy. I've always loved nicely designed sedans, and to throw the sportiness into the mix, that is a huge plus! After driving an automatic for 3 years, it was great to be back in another manual car again.
