What do people generally pay for an '08 Acura TL Type S?
I'm hoping that the search for a TL-S will end soon for me , but just so I can be prepared to negotiate with a seller I was wondering if you guys could help me out. What is the highest amount I should pay for a well maintained 08 TL Type S under 30,000 kms in Canada? Also, what is the highest I should pay for an 08 TL Type S under 20,000 miles in the US? Let me know, thanks!

Mint, low mileage 6MT '08 TL-Ses will still fetch up to mid-$30Ks, but there are many higher mileage '07s and even a few 08s in the mid to high $20Ks. It all depends on the car and market location. Here in Ottawa, a used TL-S is tough to find....let alone a mint one, so they demand a premium. There's a lot of beaten/junk cars out there...whatever you do get it looked at by a trusted mechanic before you buy. I'd always pay a little more for a well documented/serviced car, than a cheap suspect one.

^ Wow you got an amazing deal.
To the OP, are you willing to do all the paper work and pay all the extra fees for importing?
I think I already told you this on your other thread about a similar topic. Keep looking around the classifieds in your area. You'll come across type-s models soon enough for a good price.

How are you guys getting such good deals!? lol
I'm looking at a 2008 Canadian one right now around 29,000 km, one owner, clean, and am down to $32,500 CAD before taxes. How much lower should I negotiate do you all think?
@VINSANITY - I am willing to pay extra fees and paper work, but of course would rather purchase a Canadian one. Good ones with low km's are a rare find here. I have been fairly patient... I'm just wondering if I should be even a little more patient before going for the one I mentioned above.

and then theres the issue of importing to Canada with the warranty being voided. That really makes things difficult. I hear there are extended warranties that can be purchased though? Anyone know anything about that?

You will pay an arm and a leg to extend the warranty of a US car through Acura Canada...which then negates the cost savings of importing one up here in the first place! Plus, if you ever go to resell it US cars just aren't worth as much up here as a Canadian market car....there's a stigma which signifigantly lessens the value. Unless you're going to keep it until the wheels fall off, I'd try to find a clean one up here.

I got an 07 TL Black on Black with 51k miles for $17,900. Not immaculate but fairly clean. No paint job or anything. Did I do good????

@ramrodthrusterpuppy - Agreed. I'll take your advice and save myself a headache. I might be saving money now, but losing it later if something goes wrong. Plus it's just so much trouble. I do wish that Acura wouldn't void their warranties, but I guess it makes sense for them from a business perspective.

Walk the walk
I own a 2004 TL 6MT with Navi and about a month ago purchased a 08-TL-S 6MT. Manuals are harder to find. I tracked them on the web for about 2 months plus made a graph of 08-07 tl-s and what they listed for. Figure 25 to 30 depending on a lot a variables. Autos will be less. The nicest one I saw was a 08 TL-S MT with 15,000 and that sold for 31 + which was above the curve. It was a repo. 20,000 mile cars are getting harder find every day.

08 TL-S WDP with black interior 24900 miles Acura Certified $28k out the door...
I waited 5 months for this car though. If you have that patience, you will definitely get an awesome deal. Specially in the last 2 weeks of 2010.
Good Luck

I got mine for $34000 after tax in Scarborough, Ontario. 2008 TL-S KBP A-Spec kit 5AT, 53km about half a year ago. I was very close to buying one here, same exact car without the A-spec kit, same year, same color but US car, for $27900. Very glad I didn't cuz I woulda hated myself for not buying one that was CDN rather than US. Plus carfax had it reported in an accident.

Yes, I agree that it won't see snow down there, but what I won't know is if it saw a flood. And to all who are in Toronto looking to buy a used car. NEVER go to Ideal Fine Cars, cuz all their cars have accidents on them. I just don't like the fact that it's American because all the units would be in miles rather than km.

Keep in mind our taxes in Canada are 13%+ in some provinces. Plus the cars cost a lot more since suggested retail prices weren't adjusted. Hurts even more now since the US and CDN $ are on par. You have to buy a PS3 for $50 more plus 13% taxes here.
I got my 08 TL-S KBP with 60k km at $29k at a dealership, with taxes, its almost $33. Almost bought one from the states too, since I could've saved about 6k in some cases even for a KBP.
The warranty and the speedometer were big factors too. I was planning to drive mine to the ground anyway so resale doesn't matter to me.
Also A-Spec kit installed here at a Canadian dealership is like $2k. Its ridiculous. I bought one from Tim and picked it up in Buffalo, paid for installation, still half the price.
