What to do first?

If I should start doing stuff to my car what do you guys think I should do first? I'm thinking
A Spec kit + Spoiler and Roof Lip
Rims
Suspension
misc accessories like subs and stuff.
What do you guys think?

^all sounds good.. or u can tint also

I would personally do:
tint
aspec kit
coilovers
aftermarket sub n amp
interior lights
the rims

and then whatever u want afterwards lol
it doesnt matter what order you do them in.... as long as it gets done

It sounds like a good plan.

We don't know how your budget is towards modding and such, so stick to your own plan, which happens to be what you listed.

Cheers

I would lower the car before you do the A-Spec kit. That way you can figure out how low you want to go and if you still want to get the lip kit after that. I just lowered mine on coilovers and with how low it sits, I'm not sure I can spare any more ground clearance for the front A-Spec lip.

just wondering...are you really 15 or are you just screwing with us? 'cause if you're 15, how the the hell are you going to afford all the mods, let alone be legally able to drive?

but to answer your question: it depends on what you want to do with the car. looks? audio? performance? then budget...how much you wanna spend? if the bank account is wide open...have at it. if you only have limited funds...then how much?

I'm pretty sure the lip doesn't go much lower than the bumper, it just gives the illusion that it's lower...

After plenty of time seeing what guys do to their TL's on this forum here is what I think you should do.

-Purple lug nuts
-Purple tow hooks (because we track our cars soo much its necessary to have tow hooks)
-Illest stickers
-Blinds on the inside of your windows
-Stretch your tires soo much that you completely ruin ride quality and severely diminish the safety of your tires
-1% window tint
-Pink wheels (or any obnoxious color that makes your car look hideous)
-Offcenter mounted license plate. (or just put it in the absolute most awkward spot on your front bumper and leave it there)

Im gonna take some heat for this one...oh well ;-D

you don't see a problem with a off-center license plate?

so you must be one of the few that thinks its "cool" and "jdm" to drill your license plate to the left or the right of the front bumper eh..

when i see a tl with the license plate drilled into the front bumper but isn't in the center, it makes the TL look so off and funny. not to mention, my first impression when seeing a TL owner with this is that he's a "poser". don't ask why.

simply put the license plate in the center where it belongs, or even put it on your dashboard in your car pressed up against the window (even though its considered illegal and many still do it) but please don't try to be "JDM YO" n put your license plate stupidly off-center

Lol yea I am 15 and I'm able to drive according to my states (ks) laws. I also get my license in march. I do have around a thousand dollars or so to do my first mod or whatever hahaha. Thanks for the help and (sarcastic) suggestions. I'm probably gOnna go with the A sPec kit first.
Also I see 2 different type of a spec kits but what I don't get is which is which. The two that I've seen have dIfferent front bumpers. Can someone clarify?

the 07-08 aspec kit is different i believe the front is more pronounced where the 04-06 is a smaller lip just on the bottom

here is a pic of my car showing the front aspec bumper

at first i was up in the air about getting an aspec kit but man it really sets the car off.... i have a type s ... you may consider getting the type s aspec kit and fitting quad exhaust in the rear it will look clean

Get your windows tinted first. Makes the car look 10x better as well as adding protection for your interior. Also type-s rear sidemarkers are a must IMO

I'd say tint is one of the more worth while things you can do to the TL in particular. Enhance the look, keep things cooler and protect the interior from UV rays(esp the fragile dash in certain times of the day. Read up on the cracked dash threads), and increase privacy for the rear occupants (front too if you decide to go illegal :P)

Everything else is mainly aesthetic (suspension and possibly wheels not withstanding).

if the dash wasnt so fragile, suspension first for me always. I'm a function over form guy.

Now on a more serious note (unlike my other post). What I recommend doing to a base TL is:

-Wintow tint (35% or 20%)
-A-spec looks great on the base TL's

Thats all you really need to do to a TL to make it looks nice and clean...and simple and not spend a huge amount of money. ALso, some small things add a nice touch as well such as Type S rear markers, I like the Type S deck spoiler..stuff like that.

If you want to start spending money then you can do some wheels, slight drop.

I would just tint the car at first. Maybe a driving school to help you learn the limits of your car since your 15. If this was my first car I would have done it. Nothing beats knowing the limits of your car when your in a certain situation on the road.

theres 3 different aspec kits, the 04-06 base, 07-08 base, and 07-08 type S..

you can order ur kit through vendors on this forum (check out the vendor section) and specify your car's year and color and they'll be able to get ur kit accordingly.

Speaking of cracking, ensure that you continually use a protectant for the dash such as Vinylex (http://www.lexol.com/category_vinylex.aspx) it has DH-60 UV sunscreen in it which helps reduce the chances of your dash cracking/fading, plus it just looks awesome! also look into aerospace 303 protectant. haven't tried that yet but I think imma order some this week

Lol guys, I have my Restricted which allows me to drive from and to school and work buuuut i drive everywhere hahah. I've heard of the dash cracking and stuff, I detailed my car not too long ago (about 2 months) so I've took care of putting UV protector on my dash and Leather (leather care borrowed from my dad for his BMW) I told my dad that I was going to tint my windows about 35% he said are you sure? They pop up with little bubbles later on...so have you guys heard something like that? and the ASPEC kit for the 07-08 is the one I'm looking at. Looks sick!!!! Thanks for the inputs lol even if they are sarcastic

go to a shop with a lifetime warranty. Depending on the shop they'll cover all sorts of problems that come up over time including bubbles, fade, haze, scratches, etc.

They'll take care of the bubbles for you without paying extra.

bubbles only pop up if the tint installer is not very good along with using cheap film.

go to a reputable tint installer and get quality tint, you shouldn't have any color changes (ie the ugly i put cheap tint in my car that turned purple and will bubble type tint) or bubbles.

lifetime warranties are available on most high quality tint brands and tint installers will ususally guarantee their work.

I know lots of guys will disagree with me, but I did tints, aspec, coilovers, rims in that order. I think my car looked great with the aspec kit before the drop...yes it looked better after I dumped it, but the kit changed the look of the car more IMO than the drop did. The drop just tied it all together better, and made the car handle better. It all just depends on what is important to you...aesthetics or performance. Either way, you cant go wrong

Oh, and definitely get tint with a lifetime warranty as mentioned earlier.

please do a search...you shall find pics and % and much debate about how dark or mixed tint depending on your state's tint laws.

prices can range from 120 (for the cheap stuff or a really good hook up with high quality stuff), to $400+ for ceramic with moleskin.

I'm pretty sure how dark your tint is doesn't reflect the price.

I could get Pinnacle F1 ceramic tint 30% for like $280 here in Canada.

no price does not reflect tint %. price usually reflects the quality of the tint and the area (ie the market area). for DC metro: $200 (mid range quality tint) to $400 (ceramic) for whatever percentage.
