What Did you Have Before Your 04 TL?
#42
I was driving a '91 Honda Prelude Si. It had over 130K miles and still ran like new. However it had by far the worst AC possible. After at least 5 compressors, 6 evaporators, 1 condensor, multiple pressure relief valves and other problems. It died for the last time. In S. FL AC is not optional. Except for the AC however the car was almost trouble free except for maintenance items. Superb reliability.
When I bought the TL, I narrowed my choices down to the TL and the BMW 330i. It was the Honda reliability and the very significant cost difference that swung me to the TL.
The Prelude was really a fun car to drive, it handled great. It didn't have anywhere near the power of the TL. Visibility was definitely better in the Prelude though, none of the blind spots the TL has.

2001 Acura Integra Type-R #01-182
Had to let her go for 4 doors and to be able to hear myself think when driving more the 30 mins or so. It was the best handling car that I've ever driven period.
The TL is the badest 4 door that I could afford so that's what I bought. I love the kid slightly more than the Type-R.

Suprised Again
Wow,
I was suprised at how many 2002-2003 Cars (mostly TL's) were upgarded to the 2004 TL. I also saw a 2004 TSX, at least I feel I'm in good company by trading a late modle car for the new TL.
There was also a some more suprises, Cobra Covertable and the Audi A4.
This was fun! THANKS!

'97 Maxima SE with 130k miles on it
Carmax gave me $4800 for it, which was about $500 over Kelly Blue Book, so I said what the hell.
Had been drooling over the G35 for about 2 years and was set to buy it... then the TL came out and it didn't take even 2 weeks to change my mind about the G35.

2000 Subaru Outback Sedan VDC w/16,000 miles. Great all around car, but lacked soul. Combination of buying an MDX and ease of selling the MDX's trade (passatt) to CARMAX led me to swap for same payments three weeks later. Couldn't get the TL out of my head once I saw it and read about it.

I had my dream car that I was going to keep forever - a rare 95 Acura Legend coupe with a 6-speed transmission. What a great car! It had style, great performance, and the most comfortable seats I ever sat in.
Then I read about the 2004 TL and heard the “siren song” of 6-speed 270 HP, voice controlled navigation, Bluetooth telephone, XM radio, DVD audio, etc., etc. and I was lost.
I did get $10,500 for my 95 Legend with 142,000 miles on it.

Here's another surprise for Smeezy...
I did have one of the "exotics". Or at least as close to an exotic as you can get with a german car. It was the fastest production car at the time of it's debut (Zero to sixty in 4.9 bone stock). Did a quarter mile in 13.10 @ 109MPH with a near perfect light. The 2001 Mercedes CLK55 ///AMG (2-door coupe, 4-seats). It was such a rush being able to slam passengers into the back of their seats right up to 118 (where is shifted into the 4th of it's 5 gears). This was the only car I've ever owned that would go 155MPH without too much difficulty. It was also the ultimate stealth vehicle. Can't tell you hom many Cameros, Firebirds, Cobra SVT (not stage 3 but all others) I was able to show the rear end of the car too. Original said that I would NEVER trade or sell the car until.... Nearly a year later I realize that I can sell the car for nearly the same price I paid and the new TL offered so much refinement and style for such a low price. Sold the Benz, bought the TL and put $10K that was left over into stocks.

I had the 2000 Naples Gold 3.2 TL which I quite liked with 17" Momo Quasar II wheels. However, it wasn't until after I got the 2004 TL that my friends told me that they never really liked it that much and that my new car is much nicer. Imagine that!

Over a period of a year or so sold 1988 RX7 turbo, 1994 Monster (V8) Miata, and a 1992 Maxima SE...all owned from new...and a 1969 911E. Money left over (I was looking at 2004 S4, then 330i, then the TL came along and the price/value won the day.). Still have our S4 and S2000.

Suprised I am... How do you like your TL vs the CLK55? I'm sure the 55 was a nicer car?

I'd love to get the 2004 S4, but its getting up there in price, and i just can't justify getting it right now.

Had a 1987 Firebird Formula 350 (hence the name) and a 1995 Monte Carlo Z34. Sold the Firebird as it needed a lot of work and I did not want to put more money down the rat hole.
Saw the TL and said this is the car for me. Looked at others, like Mercedes, BMW & Infinity but none was quite the same.
Now I have the 6MT I wanted a long time ago when I got the Formula but could not get.
