you got a type s so you shouldn't have too. mine was a base w no nave so that was a reason i traded it but the big reason was cause i leased it at 500 a mo with nothing down for 3 years and i went to the dealer to buy it and they wanted 550 a month for 5 years so i laugh and walked out and picked up a 335 for 600 a month with nothing down and when i went to drop off the tl the guy offered me the tl for 400 a month, new tires, mats, lojack, extended w/ but i said no and he was begging me to take the bmw back

I have an 08 base TL and i'm soo keeping it until the engine dies out on me. I will be adding my indash dvd/gps navi with a customized holder soon. No need for a trading for a long time. If it comes down to it i will stick to my Jap cars because they're pretty reliable except Toyotas

^^^^ off topic: can you post a thread (or pm me) with your navi addon plans. If it weren't too expensive & decent looking, I'd consider doing the same.

hehe well i don't really know the details for the time being, but i've seen a friend of mine who owns a shop here in the city and he showed me what he integrated in someone else's TL and it came out beautifully. I still don't know the cost but he created his own mount for the radio and made it with carbon fiber paper afterward to make it look more luxurious. I plan on doing this by summer or the Spring. Got too many bills on my hands at the moment

PS:I apologize for getting off the topic, ok everyone back into it.

I traded my 2006 RSX type-S which was paid off for a 2008 TL base with nav. I miss my RSX , I had a lot done to it, lowered, exhaust, yadda yadda......and I really love the TL, however the TL lacks a "sport car" feel and I miss that a lot. Even though it was time to upgrade to something bigger (sedan) with a little more luxury, I don't regret it. However, lately I miss driving a manual car. The TL will be paid off in a couple months and am most likely going to keep it forever. I do plan on getting a used 370z nismo next year as a second car.

The TL-S didnt appeal to me much, and the interior was a little too aggressive for me. It seems like all the newer sport cars (Lexus IS-F, Nissan GT-R, to name a few) are adopting the paddle shifters....... wtf....?? Put a manual transmission in the cars damn it!!

Cadillac CTS-V f the eurotrash. If I want to go broke fixing all the crap that breaks in Audis and BMWs, I am just better off with an American car cause at least I can fix it myself and the parts are easily available and cheap. If you blow a pushrod V8, anyone can fix it and the parts can come from JEGs. I want a sporty sedan and theres nothing out there for the price of a CTS-V new or used.

We're in the process right now of replacing our 2008 base TL w/nav and I'm happy to say that the replacement will be another TL. The only thing yet to be decided is whether to get a 2011 or spend $4k more for the 2012.

With all the bitching a lot of people (including me) did about the "Disney Car" smile of the 4G (2k9,2k10 and 2k11), Acura apparently listened and wiped that smile off the face on the 2012 but did so (IMO) at the expense of losing an awful lot of chrome. The once controversial "smile" also became accepted and so now with the radical change in the face of the 2012 we once again have people (and potential buyers) bitching.

What convinced me to trade-in our 2K8 was the improved comfort and ride of a 2K11 loaner the dealer gave us recently when we took our car in for routine service. You have to understand that my wife & I are both in our 60s and dearly love the sportiness of the TL, but on road trips we don't really enjoy the ride and feel like the 3G is beating our old bones to death. We're already sold on the 2011, but going back in today (Sat'dy) to take the General Manager's 2012 demo out for a couple hours just to help make the final decision.

lol wow just wow. I loved the story, once you try it out let me know how it goes. After all the 4g TL feels looks like an armored car.

This thread comes at a good time. I just recently re-evaluated my finances and goals for the next 5 years and have decided to put more into my TL now, so that I can keep her for a few years once she's paid off. I originally intended on trading her in right away once paid off, even though I love her.

I still have about 2 years before she's fully paid off; but I'd like to see what the next TL will look like by then (hopefully NOT how it looks now!) I love Acura and think I'd like to stick with the TL as I've been so impressed.

Depending on $$ situation, I'd also love to go for a 335i Coupe.

I'm surprised in people's answers, I'm not seeing as much Brand loyalty as I thought I would!

You answered your own question.

Besides why be loyal to a brand? Kinda stupid isn't it?

^Very stupid. It almost makes you blind to other cars. But, that said, I genuinely like the 4th gen TL. Especially now with the plastic surgery done to it. Its just a great car all around. And compared to some cars it competes with, the price cannot be beat.

So I can only dream that this will replace my TL someday.

I have a 2008 BMW 5 series and just got a 2008 Acura TL. The plan is to keep the TL for another 5-8 years. I think it would still look modern even 8 years from now. The old TL outdated quick I think .

The next car would be a E90 335i (I was looking at them before buying my TL).

I'd easily have chosen a 4G TL if they kept the size of the car the same as the 3G, and styled the exterior differently -- I think the features / interior / value are good, just the size & styling is not.

2012 will have a crop of redesigned cars come out -- BMW 3, Infiniti G, Lexus GS, maybe Lexus IS -- It will be interesting to see which of them, if any, become a great value in their class.

^I too am looking forward to the 2012 models coming out. There does seem to be a good lineup.

And IMO, the TSX V6 is the closest Acura to the 3G TL. I just wish the interior in those were a tiny bit more upscale.

I expect to find brand loyalty amongst certain individuals who are strongly attached to their vehicles; such as on this forum. Hence me noting my surprise in not seeing much of it.

We all belong to an Acura forum not just because it's something to do; but because we all love our vehicles, and in turn, the Acura brand.

From a business standpoint, brand loyalty exists when people have a commitment to the brand in which they're purchasing from due to prior positive experiences. Spurious loyalty, a form of brand loyalty would be defined as "stupid".

I would replace it with the new 2011 Subaru STI. But would still keep the TL for future Project value.

Love my 2004 TL with all mods that went into it. Pure sex on wheels. Throw in AWD and I would never consider replacing that car.
Hate Acura for making dumb decisions over the past few years and ruining the brand.

4G TL - fail.
2G TSX - OK, maybe, very few of them on the road though.
TSX FWD wagon: LOL - competing with AWD Subaru in luxury price range? WTF? Put the 6cyl engine in it and AWD idiots! I am not driving FWD 4 cyl car to the mountains in winter...
RDX - fail
ZDX - no comment
MDX - the only good selling car in the entire lineup!
RL - meh, price killed it IMO, Acura's take at Cadillac?
NSX - dream on

Will be replacing it with BMW 335 or Audi S4 and a lot of extended warranty

Stay bold Acura!

It's amazing. Smooth power and 300lbs+ of torque by 3000rpm. Can't complain. Just run premium and map 5 (autotuning) or map 1 and you'll be fine. Once I get larger downpipes I'm switching to map 2.

I never knew of all the fun I was missing out on with the TL till I went to the 335i.

Well I understand attachment to a vehicle, but why be attached to a brand?

When a brand, such a Ack, offers nothing of interest, what is there to be loyal about? Is one supposed to purchase a next vehicle that doesn't meet their needs or desires? Is one supposed to purchase an car just because it's an Acura? The simple answer is Do you believe that the car maker actually cares about you? lol.

I came to this forum for information. Now that I'm here I find it to be entertaining and still full of good information. It is not because of my loyaly to Ack that I remain here....I've certainly grown beyond that.

I think a few of you who were quick to react to my post misunderstood what I said. I noted an observation, I didn't promote brand loyalty. Hence my response of choosing a 335i, despite loving my TL.

On the other hand, I think a textbook definition of what brand loyalty is would clear up your defensive stances.

Re-read my post again, you may find your answers. I am a businesswoman and evaluate trends from a business standpoint most of the time.

as much as i love my TL and TL's i general i really don't think i would be getting another one after this one that i have now unless they make an awesome turn around.........on that car .......it's not the styling i don't like ...i think the new styling is pretty hot and will be hot years from now just as the 3rd gen TL...............

Maybe it's because this is my 3rd TL ...But i am bored with the car ...........i have only had it since December and have looked into trading it in already ........but everything i look at i will have to spend more or settle for something years older with more mileage and that is what doesn't sit well with me ......But will see.....................i am going to try and hold off a little more on the TL ...............................

I understand exactly what you said. :-)

I'm not being defensive at all. But from a consumer's standpoint I believe it to be silly and short sighted to be brand loyal.

I understand. Brand loyalty is one of those terms which has been greatly misused and in turn, misunderstood.

Spurious loyalty, from a consumer's standpoint is in contrast quite an ignorant choice.

Well i can say that i am loyal to Japanese cars but i can't really trust another make unless it's got some pretty nice reviews. For example i would rather stick to an Acura, Honda, Infinity, Nissan, BMWs, Audi, and 1 american car which is the Camaro but that would be it for me.

My brand loyalty ended when they stopped producing the NSX. At least Lexus still has some flair in their line-up while the current offerings of both Acura and Honda are just . Venturing into other brands isn't a problem but sitting in a Honda/Acura just feels like home.

It will be strange for me too the next time I buy a car. But as you said current offering from H/A are so, all good things come to an end. Such is life.

I guess you're right about that dude, let's just hope Acura can revive that fire and passion they put into the 3rd gen TL on to the 5th gen one

I really used to like Acura. The 1G MDX, TSX, 2G RL, 3G TL were great cars. That period for Acura was great. In the past I had always included Acura in my list if I was looking for a new car....that list ended when Acura starting producing ugly cars.

I don't understand what the ZDX is or who it would appeal to? None of the current Acuars except maybe the TSX are decent looking.

I am glad I got a 3G TL...I think hands down its the best TL Acura has made. Unless the next gen Acuras are going to get a massive transformation (Doubt it) I will not consider Acura again.

As far as brand loyalty goes I am loyal to BMW . I love all BMWs except the base 3 series. The value of the base 3 series is not worth it. Its just a status car. Everyone and their grandma has a 3 series. The 330/335 are decent 3 series. Makes me wish we got the 330xi instead of the 325xi in 05.

I just hope Acura has a new coupe out by the time I'm ready to make a change which will be in 3-4 years.
