What is this for?

Around the rear-view mirror, there's a pattern of dots in the windshield - right where I'd like to have put my radar detector.

What is that stuff for?

It's there because the visors can't shade that section of the window. Keeps the sun from shining in your face.

I thought the antennae is the vertical lines on the rear window (horizontal are the defroster) ? Not sure about this though.

NSXnext is right.

You also see that sometimes on the tops of rear windows to cut the sun without actually blocking vision.

So, I wonder - can I put my radar detector up there, or will it be less sensitive because of the polka-dots?
