Went to the dealership today
After a few months of my car shuddering in 3rd gear, I finally took my car to the dealership today. The service tech went out on a test drive with me and luckily he felt the shuddering. I am happy to find out they will be replacing my transmission under the factory warranty. Kudos to Jones Acura in Lancaster, PA.

OMG dude that's great news
It's nice when things actually work out for a change
People are always like "My dealership screwed me on...."
That's some peace-of-mind I wish I could get, a brand new tranny. Beautiful

I'm having the same problem but its really small to feel. Happens between 25-30mph. Someone told me its not possible on our cars because the transmission for the Type S is off the RL. I had this same exact symptom in my Base 2000 Acura 3.2TL

I had the transmission fluid changed when I bought the car at 50,000 miles. I have the Acura dealership do all of my maintenance. The shudder on mine occurs around 25-30 mph also. When I took the technician for a ride, the shudder was very subtle. But it was there and he felt it. That's all he needed to authorize a transmission replacement.

Can you describe this shudder a little bit? I've been having this weird shaking feeling going thru 3rd gear as well but I didn't really think anything of it.

Mine does it under light acceleration around 25-30 mph. It feels like your going over rumble strips. That's exactly how my Acura dealership described it. Sometimes the shudder will be very subtle, other times it will be very noticeable.

you lucked out. I did the same think with an Acura Dealer up here in N. Chicago. Went for a test drive with a tech, he admitted that he felt it shudder, but he said that he wouldnt get paid for the diagnostic so he wasnt going to do it. I should have called Acura care after that, but I was dealing with family issues at the time as well. Out of the 6 or so dealers i have been to, There are only two that i know would have done something. Rick Case in S. Florida and Hall Acura in Va. Beach. Once i get a few bucks, I will be ordering the pressure switches and replacing them myself.

Just got my car back. They replaced the torque converter and not the transmission. I didnt feel any shuddering on my way home. I guess time will tell if it took care of the problem.

Oh please god no..... Dont tell me that the shudder is under light acceleration around 25-30 mph indicate that the transmission is failing. NO F#$ING WAY.
I just discovered this shudder couple day ago. I did change the 3/4th gear solenoids and went to redline at. WTF!!! My car mileage is not even 60k.

Glad they're replacing it for you. FWIW, I had the same exact issue and Redline D4 fluid completely fixed it. I've only done a 1x3 fluid change so far. So even with just 1/3 of Redline fluid in the transmission, it stopped the shuddering. Only thing I sometimes notice are sloppy down shifts when the car is still cold. I plan on doing another ATF change soon. Replacing the pressure switches really didn't do much for me. Guess its a good measure to take though.
Anyway, dump the Z1 or whatever OEM fluid they put in it when you get the chance.
