Hello everyone! I have these weird marks that I can't even explain. My family has older cars and none of them seem to have these marks either (Though we have had those cars since brand new and I have only had the TL for less than a year, and it wasn't in the best condition, to begin with). I recently restored my headlights and hoped that it would get rid of some of these strange marks on both my headlights.
The headlights look pretty good when none of the lights are on, but once you turn on the lights, the marks are a complete eyesore.
I tried looking around but honestly, I don't even know what I should look up or what the marks are even called.
About my car:
2007 Acura TL Type-S with around 146k Miles
Was an Arizona car for a long time, now I own it in Minnesota. Don't think the previous owners took the best care of it.
Headlights after being restored while lights are off (Ignore the rock chips lol):
The same restored headlights with the lights on:
I have circled in red where the marks are the worst and most prevalent. From what I can see, it is neither on the inside of the lens nor on the outside. They are in front of the horizontal lines that run across the headlight, but cannot be wet sanded down, I believe. I tried wet sanding down for a while on one of the spots and it seemed to do nothing. What could've caused this and how can I fix it? Are the lenses for sale anywhere? I really don't want to have to bake the headlight and go through that whole ordeal with sealing it up again.
I hope this all makes sense in this write-up.
Any advice or comments would really help! I just want to know how I could fix this or if others have also had this problem because I can't be the only person who has ever seen this. Thanks for reading along!
The mark is on the inside lense, I don't know why people think only outside lense subject to be uv damage? the out side show it age 1st because it constantly receive sand blast but eventually the inner lense will get affected as well. You mentioned that the car originally come from AZ, during its life time the amount of sun damage is great, imagine you have your car out under 110F sun years around without window rolling down at all, I guess you see my point. At this point you have two options
1. buying entirely new assembly (which is expensive even for after market) $900 for OEM or $550 for Depo, TYC...
2. bake open the lens, clean up on the inside and reseal them.
