WDP with a YELLOWish rear BUMPER!!!

i know this has been posted, asked, and mention before and i believe i had read almost every thread about the wdp bumper mis-match. i am starting a new thread is because i got a few questions that i need some answers, which i cant not find and also i need to vent and see what you guys think of my thoughts about it. so please... help me out!!!

I want to the dealer, did all the yelling and screaming and bitching and i got no where. pretty sure about 85% of you guys did the same thing.

is there any way i could get them to repaint my bumper? I GUESS NOT. i live in NYC and most of the dealers around here are all the same. they do whatever it is to sell u a car and THATS IT. i might be wrong about that but thats my feelings towards it. ehh mybad, just venting...

questions.... for all of you WDP, whats the best way to fix this? pay out of pocket? even if i do go the route and money ant a thing. why would u even do such a thing to repaint a fresh new yellowish color bumper on your white acura? just because it looks a little bit yellow?

my thoughts about... aspec kit... its only the rear bumper looks a bit yellowish... now if the aspec kit is as white as the car, i could have it cover up the bottom portion of the bumper, not fully but it could at least blend in a little bit.

is there anything else i could do beside repainting????

How long have you had the the TL?

If you have a professional buffer - and access to quality detail products, I highly recommend giving your TL an acid bath.

You can only acid bath white cars.

Other cars can be treated with "decontamination products"....

Should have done some research before buying the car. There is really NOTHING you can do to rid the mismatch it's the biggest reason I didn't buy WDP.

My only advise is you should've bought NBP

I had to take a hit to get mine redone, even with the slight mismatch WDP>*
the a-spec kit does hide some of the mismatch.I actually notice more than just the rear bumper is mismatched in some light.(decklid and doors to me)

And pry tell whats that going to accomplish? The mismatch is in the mid or base coat color not the top clear coat.

I have detailed many white cars that have had slight paint discolorations due to fallout/improper care of the paint. I was simply listing it as a suggestion. I am aware of the WDP paint issue - however he asked for suggestions and I was simply providing one.

My WDP had a "yellow-ish" bumper from day 1. This is a known Acura TL problem (the RL has less of a problem). Other manufacturers (notably Infiniti) have found a way to solve this, why not Acura?

To the two NBP posts above:

Your posts were completely useless. Why do you have to post unhelpful drivel? Is this what happens when the TL gets in the hands of second-hand owners with no brains?

Stick to the topic.

I am pretty picky myself, and while the mismatch is there, I still went WDP. If I hadn't read about it, I would have never noticed. No one else has either, so I just don't bring it up. WDP is straight up sex on wheels.

Let those NBP guys fight to keep there car clean. I am sure they love the pollen in the summer.

WDP all the way!

Infiniti may have successfully, but I now look for this on alot of cars....and it isn't just acura with this problem.

Sorry about the WDP. That's the only reason I did not get that color, too. I really, really wanted the WDP (great color for us Vegas desert rats!!). The NBP would literally MELT out here when it gets to 110 - 115 degrees out.......so that color was OUT for me.
Not sure why Honda/Acura couldn't get that WDP to come out better on the plastic areas, just seems weird/strange to me. You only notice it on the bumpers, and side skirts.

I went with the CBP (Carbon Bronze Pearl) for a couple reasons:
1. You don't see that color too often.
2. It was only available on 07/08 TL's
3. It HAS NO COLOR MIS MATCH issues
4. Looks GREAT with Taupe/Black interior......IMHO
5. THE Type S WHEELS almost, almost match the color of the car............take a look!!

ps
Sorry to hijack your thread........just wanted to show the CBP color comes out fine IMO. No color mismatch.

Usually both bumper covers are a mismatch, so maybe the front was repainted before.
A fellow scrapped the right front of our WDP last year. Not bad, just removed some paint on the fender and bumper cover. The shop repainted the fenders and cover, and the match is absolutely perfect. No matter what angle, the hood, cover, bumpers all the same.
Now if someone would only scrape the rear bumper. I was going to have it painted with money out of my pocket, but the price he gave me was out of sight.

I had mine repainted by the dealer, they were excellent to deal with regarding this. Mine looked alot better and I was pleased. Then, about 4 months later, I backed into something and had to have the bumper repaired. Although the entire bumper was not repainted, it was clearcoated which altered the color on one side of it at the area which meets the metal. It doesn't look at good now, but the body shop says they will fix it (not sure if I'm going to mess with it yet). It's just something I'll have to live with.
If I were you I would talk to some body shops and see what they think they can do, then decide.

i have the same problem. this is my second tl, and 04 and 08, both wdp and both cars have had the same problem. i was told it was bc the bumper and body are different materials therefore the paint takes differently. so who knows really

silvers don't match very well either, the bumpers are not painted with the car, so the metallics and pearl spects will never be in the alignment or depth that the rest of the car has so you will pretty much always see a different reflection, also most times plastic has different flex additives that the rest of the car doesn't have, its very rare on certain colors to have the plastics match the metal painted areas accross all the mfg's

The Original White Diamond Pollen.

Think of it as a two tone paint job for free.
