WDP 2008 TL type s on the way!
hey guys,
i've been reading posts on acurazine for several months now. i've always wanted the 3g TL and i finally went to the dealership tonight and put a down payment on a 2008 TL type S in WDP. i got the price down to $38K OTD. did i get a good price or do you think i could have gotten it down lower? he wouldn't budge! i think he refused to go down in price b/c there weren't any WDP in any of the maryland dealerships. but regardless, i'm almost a tl owner and i'm very excited about it. pics will be up soon.

hey guys! thanks for the friendly replies. to answer WDPts' questions...my car is going to be an automatic. i know how to drive stick but don't really enjoy it... but when do get the urge i can just use the paddle shifters. and my commute is all highway every morning so i'm not really feeling having to change gears in traffic and whatnot. and the answer to your other question is i put $10k for a down payment.
i'm expecting a phone call from the dealership today to tell me how many miles are on the WDP that they are going to truck over today. i told them i wanted less than 10 on it but that's doubtful so i'll take whatever i can get.

i just called the dealership and the salesman told me that my car is going to have 40 miles on it when i asked for less than 10. BOOOO! looks like i'll be waiting a little bit more for my car. i'm not going to pay all that money to not get what i asked for.
what do you guys think?

Congrats on the new ride. I myself is a newbie to the forum and I just purchased a '07 WDP TL-Type S.
It's a great looking car the smoke tinted blinkers and tail lights gives compliements to the WDP. I also just got a clear-bra and windows tinted on the new ride. It looks great.
Still trying to break it in. I just racked up about 600 miles so far in two weeks time. So I'm almost there ready to unleash the Type S beast on the road.

i just got a call from the dealer telling me that the car is in and that i should check it out. what should i do? i know he's gonna throw in free stuff for me. if i take the car, what free stuff should i get? he already offered the all-season floor mats. should i get the splash guards? or....should i just tell him that i'm going to wait. those 40 miles really bother me.

I take it you don't make many decisions on your own.
Price is entirely up to you - nobody else will help you pay for it.
Mileage is up to you too. 40 miles isn't a biggie to me. 100+ maybe. Sure I'd choose less if I could, but remember the MFR and dealer prep each put some miles on it (agreed, not 40). Think about it - if every car on the dealer lot with 11 miles was turned down, they'd be screwed - they wouldn't sell any cars. My rule always has been that the more miles, the less money I'll offer - but under 50 (100?) do you really expect them to do anything?
When I purchased, I looked at the new G35's. EVERY SINGLE ONE ON THE LOT had 700+ miles on it - they acted like it was expected. Out of curiosity I negotiated a little. I started by asking them to knock $1 off invoice for every mile on the odo. They told me people had no problems with 1,500 miles on a 'new' car. Doubt they were honest, but they were moving them. Most leased on an 'advertised special' but for those paying, it was 1k under invoice "no more." I wasn't going to buy one, but walked with that comment. Oh yeah - every Infiniti salesman drove a 'new' G35 which was cycled every 3 months. Gee, I wonder where those miles came from.

tl2go, i just like having the opinions of others. i thought that's what this forum was all about.
anywho...i just got back from the dealer and fell deeper in love with the WDP. i asked for the trunk tray, carbon fiber rear console trim, and a couple free oil changes. that should compensate for the 40-some miles on it. that would make me happy! :-)

JIB83 - understood and agreed. I've just seen too many set themselves up for disappointment in forums - not because they are disappointed, but because others put a dif't set of expectations on them.
Mine came with 20-30 (including a test drive by me) and I was nowhere near disappointed. The car still had plastic on it with 20 some miles on it, so I doubt it was losing its 'virginity' with a sloven drunk ;-)
Can't say I've ridden in the back so I'm not sure about the carbon fiber rear console trim - seems the kids or unappreciative passengers could kick it off or scuff it pretty well. Also, I'm skeptical about the dealer changing the oil - too many stories (over/under fills; using wrong oil; not changing it or the filter etc.) I do them myself or go to a local mechanic I know and trust.
I think you will be happy in the end regardless of the freebies. It's a sweet ride. I've had mine for 3 mos now and still look forward to getting in it in the morning (or after work for that matter).
So go pick it up and start enjoying!

R U a cop?!!! LOL
Yes i am, they're repaving the section by Erskine right now. Probably be done by this weekend.
Back in the early 90's, when it wasn't as bumpy, you could do 120 on it.

Hey congrats on your purchase!
I just bought my NBP 2008 TL-S 6 spd this Tuesday...still waiting to pick it up.
I got mine down to 36,500 OTD at Pohanka in Chantilly, VA.
If ur still looking for another WDP, they had a 6spd one in storage...it's not too far from Balimore.

By the way congrats on WDP TLS, I got the same exact whip. Cool.
BUT, to fuss over 40 miles is not worth it. I got my car with 80, as the car was being brought from Philly, PA. They can't really abuse your car within 40 miles, and they can't risk damaging your car in any way, so those 40 miles are nothing.
Congrats again! enjoy!

The way I would do it would be to charge the dealership 15 cents per mile (which in this case works out to be $6) since that's what they charge if you go over on a leased vehicle. Is it worth haggling over? I think not. Enjoy the car!
