Washing your car...
Not sure if this topic has been discussed before, but how do you guys wash/clean your new TL's.
I've had mine about 1 week, starting to get dirty. I don't trust the guys at the hand wash places (got my wife's EL all scratched up from...they won't admit to it though), and I certainly don't want to go through the drive throughs at the gas stations. Wand wash at low pressure seems to be my only method...BTW, it's cold here in Canada, so washing by hand on my driveway is out of the question.

here is what i do. get a good car wash solution. i use meguiar's gold class. i bought their new NXT car was stuff recently but have yet to try. then use a wash mit, perferably a microfiber one. Microfiber is the same type of stuff they use to make the eyeglass wipes or ski goggle bags. they do not scratch the car since the thread is so fine. but a regular wash mit is fine as well. avoid the sponge because it will trap dirt on the surface and will scratch the car. was the car from the top down. roof, hood, trunk, sides, bumpers and skirts. this way the dirt travels down the car. to me drying the car is the most important part. you have to get all the water off before it leaves watermarks. i use to use the california waterblade to remove most the water but like the sponge its poses a risk if dirt is trapped between the blade and your car. a new technique i learned is to remove the nozzle off the hose and use the stream of water and sheet the water off the car. since the nozzle is not on it anymore it won't splash on the car with alot of force and leave droplets all over the car. like using a leaf blower just guide the water off the car. this should remove from 60-70% of the water believe it or not. then here comes the microfiber again. i use a large microfiber waffle weave towel, they suck up alot of water. even tho ifs microfiber i do not run the towel on the car, again dirt can be trapped between the towel and car. i just place the towel over the car and let it soak up. i tab as much as possible. this method works best for me and i usually never get any swirl marks. you can also try searching www.autopia.com. they are crazy about car cleaning and detailing. as far as it being cold there is nothing i can do for you there, you migt have to grin and bear it.
