Warranty on Used Car?
i just purchased an 05 tl 6spd ssm! Love the car with the exception on the third gear grinding/ fallingout issue. What are the chances my car is still cover under the original acura warranty? It only has 68k. When i purchased the car it also came with a 12 month limited powertrain warranty from the dealership (not a acura dealership). I am thnking about doing the GM syncroshift fluid change but not sure.. What do you guys think i should do?

acura warranty covers the car not the driver/owner so it doesnt care who
There are secret extended acura warranties on known problems too
register with acura as the new owner and ask if the current recalls have been taken care of 1-800-382-2238x5
You have a trans issue- go use your powertrain warranty with the sale
read the contract for details
why spend your money trying to band aid when they will likely take it to acura for a fix
If the clutch disc is low at this time replace while trans out- you only pay the parts and small extra labor then
at 68kmiles I would go ahead and do the clutch, to have a like new car- with fixed trans

Only 2006 and newer years have the 6 yr/70,000 mile Acura powertrain warranty. You would need to use the powertrain warranty that the non Acura dealer gave you for repairs.
Of course, you can go to a Acura dealer for a diagnostic check, but expect to pay a diagnostic fee.

yes the 800 can tell you what ACURA warranty is in effect
For you- go to the selling dealer and tell them its shifting bad
Their guy will look at it and probably send it to acura for diagnosis.
then the insurance policy- thats what an extended warranty really is- deals with the dealership for repair or replace

Danny he's right. Go to the dealer where you bought the car and the trans issue will fall under the warranty that was sold to you when you bought the car. it's a no brainer. other than that you car has no warranty.

Thanks for the post, OP and for the follow-ups everybody. I just bought an '05 6MT five weeks ago that's also out of warranty and keep flip-flopping about whether I should try and get the 3rd gear issue addressed by Acura or do the syncromesh route. Yes, it's a band-aid, but that seems to do the trick for 24-30k miles from what I've gleaned from searches. <$40 (right?) in MT fluid every 2-3 yrs. isn't all that much hassle. But, I plan on keeping the car a long time, so I think I'll suck it up to jump through all these hoops before the 90 days is up.

Thats what i thought but went into the manhattan dealer because i received a recall notice. In the mean time i explain I explain that I have been having a loud noise on front passenger side...almost like the tire jumps a lot. Thats when i was told about the diagnostic fee...any advice? My cars at 60k miles
