Warranty Question?
Warranty Question?
I purchased a certified pre-owned 2006 TL last september (2010) The car had 58,000 miles on it. I was told this past Saturday that it needed a new rack and pinion job. Since I have had the car I have had it 6 months and have put 15,000 miles on it. Does anyone know if this should be covered under warranty?? If not is there anyone I could call and try to get a goodwill fix?? Thanks in advance...

The CPO, bumper to bumper adds 1 yr/12,000 miles to the factory warranty of 4 yr/50,000 miles, or in your case, 5 years from in service date and 62,000 miles. As you're over the mileage cap, looks like a no go.
Who told you that the rack is defective?
If it is, I would be highly upset that in the 6 mos/15,000 miles of ownership the rack has gone south.
Good luck

Who told you that? If it was the dealer, they should know if it would be covered under warranty or not.
You get 100K of powertrain, but I dont know what is covered... it might be, but it probably isn't. Call the number on your card and ask.

The Acura dealership in Birmingham, Al told me it needed replacing. $400 for part and $800 for labor (OUCH). Carried it on a Saturday. He said I should call the dealership where I bought it (Cloumbus, Ga) and ask them if it is covered. I called them and they said they should be able to tell me in Birmingham. Been getting the runaround for last two days trying to see if it is covered. Calling and asking for service manager tomorrow and asking him. Bought an Acura because I heard they took care of their customers well. Not feeling the love at all.
And what card are you refering to???
Thanks in advance

There were CPO warranty cards in both of my cars. 'roundabout the size of an insurance or business card.
I don't find the dealers too particularly friendly since I don't buy cars from them or get service there, but I do find the cars mostly reliable and easy to work on. People with relationships with the dealers get more good will than I do, and rightly so.

Would that be the Acuracare cards with a contract number???
And I have only had oil changed twice and both were at the Birmingham, Al ACURA dealership. the same ones who tell me they are busy and can't find out if it is under warranty.
If it isn't under warranty and they don't seem to try and help, May just start going somewhere else for service.
Kinda doubt they will tell me it is under warranty though.
