Warning for VA Drivers!
Hey guys,
So i got pulled over yesterday for no front plate and window tint. I have had the car for two years now and never had a gotten pulled over for these reasons. well i got two tickets, one for each. Anyways the cop told me that they will be cracking down on tint starting this summer because too many people tint thier windows way to dark (i have 20% all around). Legal is 50% in front, 35% in the back. so just a warning for everyone with dark tint!

Around where did you get pulled over and how much was the ticket for no front tag. Can't wait to switch my car to MD, yearly property tax and inspection pisses me the hell off.

going to start?
I have more window tint tickets than the state of VA allows (5 I believe, 4 is supposed to be the limit). The last time I got pulled over the cop was like I'm not going to give you a ticket because it is too much of a hassle, It should have been mandatory you showed up at court last time, but you must have gotten lucky.
Well I still have tinted windows, but they are only 35% now as opposed to 20%... part of the problem also was my old car was a cop magnet, I've only been pulled 1ce in the TL when it had 20% for a whole year.
A few helpful tips that I have found work for me:
open the sun roof, (just the slider is enough).
open the window opposite the side of the cop (if you open your window as he's beside you, its really obvious).
the key is to get more light inside of the car to reflect out, making your tint looks lesser than it is. Remember its a % of light that can pass through, so the brighter the inside of your car is the better you are.

I keep my roof open to allow more light since it does look dark. I will try the other window trick too.

No surprise to me. My fronts are 47% and my rears are 35% in my coupe with black leather interior and I've been pulled over for like 10 times in the last year for just window tint. I tell them everytime that it's only 3% under the limit and they laugh like yeah right til they point their lil tool on it. Then they let me go every time. How the hell do you get harassed for having legal tint!!!?

VA sucks!
I lived there back in 93 and they tried collecting back taxes on me this year FROM 16 YEARS AGO!!! It was because my tax preparer used the wrong form. VA can go back 20 years on state income taxes. WTF?!
...and they don't allow radar detectors
..and they nit pick on everything!
(i really don't hate VA, just the VA gov't)

i am a little darker bro, but not by much ... some wierd number it was like 27 when he put the little tool thing on it ... so i got jacked ... i was under the impression it was a secondary offense and they cant pull u over unless ur speeding or sumthing ... guess i was wrong

I miss my 03 CL-S :(
I got pulled over for it once on my TSX in Alexandria, and the cop just gave me a warning. Weird thing was he did a U-turn on Rt. 1 at a busy time with full lights/sirens just to pull me over for that. Pretty silly, IMO. I don't even have tints, btw.
