WARNING: Don't open hood with wipers lifted.
I've got my first nick in the paint on my TL.
After washing and drying the car this morning, I left the wipers in their lifted position so I could use my Invisible Glass on the windshield.
I tried to open the hood to dust underneath and the back lip of the hood hit the wiper.
There is a tiny nick in the paint on the edge/lip of the back of the hood.
I have touched it up but it is still noticiable. When it dries, I will try and compound it to feather it in.
So BE CAREFUL not to open the hood with the wipers lifted!

Sorry for that little guy with the sign, don't you hate it when people do that to your post?

It's a Cruel World!
I don't know how I missed that earlier thread on exactly the same thing... Thanks, EnJ.
I was stunned to see how many other Duh-mees had done the same thing as I did.
If my little chip experience will save others from doing it, you can say "Duh" all day; I don't mind.
Those of you who were compassionate and polite get points.
The rest of you can

Anyway, after I read your post, I said to myself... "good point... gotta watch that". I never had a problem with wipers in the up position scratching a hood of my cars. Since I never experienced that, I was unaware of the potential. Thanks to your "heads up", I now know what I did not know.
For all of you "Duh-ers", how many of you "knew that" from experience?

I thought the same thing. You can't do that with any car that I know of. However, I am sure there are a few out there that you can. The TL doesn't fall in that catagory though.

Its a Jungle in Here
Wow.... next thing you know we'll all be stalked and have the flesh torn from our limbs for little oversights..
I will reiterate a "thanks for the Heads up..." because I have a happy knack of doing exactly the same thing...
At least my hood has been saved a nicking...
