The wait for the perfect TL is unbearable

Been searching every day for the right TL 05-06 on CL.

My ideal car is an 05-06 WDP /w Navi, AT(Parents don't know how to drive manual and they'll be driving it around here and there)

I'd actually accept any other TL colors besides the RRP
or DMM.

Out of curiosity, how long did you guys wait for your ideal car, if you bought used.

why are you just looking on craig's list?? cars.com and autotrader.com have plenty to choose from. you can even go as far as looking at the BM on here to see what members are selling.

what's your budget?? needs and wants??? acceptable mileage??

perfect is brand new. perfect in the used car market...depends on what you are envisioning in your head. it's not like you're waiting for a 6MT in a certain color combo. do take your time when choosing and finding the right car. if the deal sound stoo good to be true...it probably is. good luck on your hunt.

BTW i found 56 WDP 05-06 vehicles in the US for sale with navi on cars.com. not sure where you live, but how far are you willing to travel for said "perfect vehicle"?

i spent roughly a year looking for my 08 TL-S in WDP and ebony interior.. finally found one late 2011 CPO at a dealer.. i was starting to settle for a different color (black on black) but i waited and finally got one!

Keep looking.. as others would say.. if you settle you're gonna always regret it in the back of your head!

Ya my top two colors would be WDP and NBP of course.
Tan interior, but black is more than acceptable.

I've checked out Cars.com and autotrader.com
I actually went to look at 2 TL on cars.com and had a friend look at another TL.

Both the TL were repainted body panels(small dealership lied about it being not repainted) along with scuffs and interior problems.

Basically the perfect or ideal TL to me would be one well maintained, never damaged or replaced body panels. No cracks or interior damage. Scuffs and scratches will always be there at 80k-100k miles so I can't complain.

My budget is $12,000 at the moment, and that would have to be exactly what I want depending on miles.

A 05 NBP TL /w Navi and AT slipped through my hands for 11,000 at 116,000 miles, did all maintenance and 105k service, etc.

I can increase my budget if it's honestly the perfect tl in my eyes, WDP, Tan interior, Navi.

stay away from small dealers. most of the time they buy cars at auction. there is a reason why these cars go to auction in the first place. they wre traded or turned in to the dealer in rough shape. so a dealer isn't willing to re-furbish the car to getting looking good. small dealers will do just enough to get the car to sell. i would either go with a bigger dealer (however they are unlikely to have a high mileage TL in your price range) or a private seller that has the entire history of the car (hopefully).

for $12k, you're really limiting yourself to an extremely high mileage TL for the 05-06 model yrs. just sayin'

I recently came across a NBP /w Navi AT @ 116k miles
for 11,000. All maintenance was don on time according to the owner.

Kind of wish I didn't pass up looking at it.

I also found a TL 05 NBP /w Navi AT @ 84,000. Only problem was a side skirt on the left unclipped, and he navigation system didn't work, the back unit had to be shipped back to Pioneer and pay $150 to fix it. It was priced at 11,500.

I have hope on finding something below $12,000, but if I find the exact TL I want I am willing to do $13,000.

I just did a local area search for a TL in the 12k range and concur with TLtrigirl, all I saw were TLs with 110,000+ miles.

Just take your time.

It took me about 2 weeks. I had to go a week without a car after selling my old TL. Just be patient, the right one will pop up. I was looking for a TL with less than 70k miles and wanted to spend around $16K (would have paid more if the car was worth it; i.e., very low miles, or only a couple years old). Found mine on cl with only 67k miles and was able to bring price down to $14.2k. It needed new tires which explains the price. Don't settle for anything.

P.S. I have your perfect TL, lol.

It took me about three months, a bunch of test drive and piss off then I got my MRP TL with the same mileage and the three idea color, my original color was 1st KBP, 2nd NHBP, 3rd MRP, 4th ASM. CBP is out of question.

I just had my acura dealer go to the auctions an fine a car close to what i wanted. I ended up with a car with more than i asked for the same price and certified. This might come off harsh but i feel the need to say this. You are buying a used car not a new one where you get everything exactly like you want if it were a new model. Those cars with the blemishes you should take into consideration. Offer lower price so the money you save can be used to repaint the areas that bother you. I'm also curious like the other AZ members are as to where you live so we can further assist you. You should also be willing to travel at LEAST 150mi to find the vehicle you desire. Good luck bro. Keep us posted as we're all happy to help new members find the cars they wish. Hell are there any TL's for sale on this board that are near you?

I'm still waiting and looking for what i want and its so hard but i know it'll be worth it in the end if im just patient, rushing into anything is always regrettable for me anyways. For 12-13K your not going to find much at all, these cars don't depreciate in value. if they are in that price range they arnt going to be in the condition your looking for, i wouldnt even look into a 3G TL if my max price was 12k or 13k just my 2 cents.

It took me the better part of 8 months to find mine. It's an 06 6MT navi with ebony interior in wdp. You have to be patient but since you're looking for an AT you shouldn't have to look for too long. Whatever you do find have it checked out before you buy. Don't settle for anything or you will kick yourself in the ass later

It took me about 5-6 months, almost everyday searching for a WDP 5AT TL-S. Trust me the wait is worth it, I've never been happier!

GLUCK with the search!

Listening to him, I had horrible experience with small dealer before... just buy from big dealer at least they gave you 30 days/3000 miles bumper to bumper warranty.

I totally agree with this member. A 04-06 TSX w/ Tech pkg could be found at the price you want with not as many miles as a TL of the same year/mileage. Something to think about. Hell you'll probably find one cheaper than 12=13k putting money aside for A-Spec kit or CAI/Headers/etc.... .

I bought mine in an auction . But its a risk tho you dont know the condition of the vehicle until you car fax but they rate the grade of the vehicle before you decide to get it or not. I got pretty lucky no accidents, one owner and the car runs great

If you want the perfect car buy a new one. Find something close and that's it.

There's a BLK/BLK Type-S with 72k miles, 1 owner and pretty clean on the surface at my local Honda stealership. They want $22k.

......................and then the carfax made me laugh. Something about the wording:
"It hit a motor vehicle
It hit a guardrail
Vehicle disabled
Vehicle towed"

Keep on keepin' on, you'll find one eventually. I see lots of BLK/BLKs out there.

A month.

But I settled.

I wanted a wdp/asm/NBP 6mt TL with navi an only blak interior

I ended up with an automatic DGP (I didn't even know the TL came in green) with parchment interior and navi.

I got the navi, and the color grew on me. But I'll always wish it was a 6mt and the interior was ebony.

I found a good deal (so good i dont want to say how much) on a well maintained at and and jumped on it. I was a trade off.

I contacted my local dealer and told him what I wanted. He located it for me, I came for the test drive and bought it. Dealers have greater resources than most anyone else and can get very specific. You will wind up paying a little more but you can get very nit picky. Just find yoruself a motivated sells guy and you should have no problem.

I found mine and I wasn't originally looking for one.
I take ownership of an '07 TL-S on Tuesday after selling my 2001 Accord yesterday, and I'm about to go crazy waiting for such an awesome car. I've never been this excited about a car purchase (I've had 7 cars since I was 16, mostly Hondas).

I waited a few months to find mine and I'm glad I did. I was looking for a Black TL-S and almost settled for an ASM TL-S, but I'm glad I waited. Finally going on Monday to buy it. It will just make you that much happier once you finally find one exactly how you want it. But like you said, the waiting does suck
