To Wait Or Not To Wait
Should I wait for the new Acura TL-S 2007, or go on and buy the Acura TL 2006 now?
About when are they going to release the 07 Acura TL-S? How much price difference will the 06 TL drop to?
When is the 07 TSX comming out?

haha i'm asking myself the same question...i can probably get 31500 for a 06 TL so OTD probably around 34500...with the 07 i'd expect a couple grand increase and type s even more so...sooooo i'm not sure if my wallet can handle that...sigh what to do

Depends on how much you value performance and styling.
Styling is a matter of taste and if you like the minor redesigns and the quad tail pipes, and the 8k price difference is justifiable, then wait.
If you care about performance, the sport tuned suspension probably makes a world of difference. The new 3.5L engine is a nice addition. And the ability to go faster than a 2007 Camry is probably enough motivation to hold out on buying the 2006 TL.
Allow me to sidetrack for just one moment and rant. I swear it's a sin to make a Camry go so fast. !@#&*$% Good thing the guy I was messing with couldn't drive for crap, and I had him at every go. Piece of crap 2007 Camry
Okay, back on topic..
My personal opinion is to wait. I think the new tail lights and fog lights look great on a black TL. I like the new stearing wheel as well. The performance of the TL-S engine makes me jealous knowing you could probably squeeze quite a bit more out of that 3.5L than the 3.2L. Then again, it is hard to justify an 8-10k price difference based on that alone. You could easily bolt on a comptech SC, but would you really do that to a new car?

Theres' 4-6 threads here talking about the Type-S now. it's pretty clear there are some nice upgrades there.
No way are those upgrades worth $8K. The point of the tL was the cost value proposition, and now the value isn't there.
If you got the cash, and NEED the latest and greatest, then by all means.
I have a 2006 A-Spec and love it. I wish I had some of the neater technical features of the TL-S (New Nav with Nav-Traffic, New MID/steering wheel). Almost everythign else will virtually plug an play retrofit (except the engine). Needless to say, I'll be watching ebay/junkyards over the coming years.
Consider this:
- $33K OTD
- $2400 self installed A-Spec body kit/suspension/rims
- $1400 in CAI/Pulley's and Pro-Cats - putting my HP near or over the TL-S WITH better milage
- Another $1K in AV upgrades, Ipod integration, DVD, PS2, Mediagate hardrive, reverse camera, TV Tuner, Short Shifter, LED interior, HID fogs and all that stuff.
$38K, and I'm DONE, PLENTY of Power and more tech than the G35. I could add the $4K SC to my 90 day old 2006, pull 320+ WHEEL HP (Not 286 crank), and be right at the OTD cost of the TL-S, and have trumped every feature it offers except the bading/moniker.
If you went 2005 used, you could easily get an A-Spec TL for $31-32K and be almost there. Do your details and bolt on a SC... zing.
Don't forget, the TL-S is going to be a premium... probably little wiggle in the price... and OTD is gonna be well into the 40's (pricing hasn't been announced, but I expect $39K start, low 40's with Nav)... and that's just the price of admission. then you have to do your mods (becasue we all do it)... and I wouldn't expect any serious HP upgrades (SC) for at least a year... Just in time for the 4th gen redesign.
All points to consider.
With gas approaching $4 a gallon, I'm not sure many of us will want 3.5L+ engines for long...

I remember reading a couple of threads where people were saying that they heard there might be a Type S coming.
Then just about 95% of the people on here said that it would never happen. Well this must be a slap n the face. But at least it’s a good slap.

Are you saying the upgrades from the 06 to the 07 model are not worth the money you would pay for the 07 model?
Well yeah... If that's your attitude, then go on get yourself a 7 series... If you want relative value, consider your options.

Just get the Type S and save yourself the grief.

Now don’t go jumping to extremes now with your whole 7 series statement. The cars aren’t even in the same class. Second you could have two TL’s for the price of a 7 series.
Just from reading post on this forum from the past. I see people getting the 5 auto then they drive the 6 speed and like it a lot due to the extra power. They end up selling their 5 auto to get the 6 speed.
Would hate to see you get the base TL and then down the road start to crave for the Type S which normally happens.
If you can afford it which I think you can because you wouldn't be asking this question. I say just go with the TL Type S.
But if you are tight on money then I suggest the base TL.

I would wait to see the car both 07 TL-p and Type-S in person... Many pictures don't do a car justice.. My guess is once you see the 07 (type-S or not) sitting next to an 06, you will want the 07....

My opinion, get the non Type S. It will make my Type S more rare.
