VSA / Auto Shift Fix

Several months ago I started having difficulty shifting out of park, accompanied by illumination of the 'VSA off' warning lights. Piazza Acura of Ardmore claimed to have fixed it by moving a wiring harness (right).

A few weeks later the same problem reappeared, difficult to shift out of park, VSA crapping out. Made an appointment, but before I took it in the problem disappeared. Piazza advised against bringing it in since they claimed they wouldn't be able to diagnose the problem unless it was present on the day I took it in.

Today, three weeks later, the same problem reappeared. I'm not about to keep making appointments hoping the problem will be present on the scheduled day of service, I want this fixed.

Has anyone had this problem? How was it fixed? Part name/number replaced would be appreciated so I can point Piazza Acura of Ardmore to the proper fix.

I seem to recall a post several months ago where a 'brake lockout switch' was identified as the offending part.

Many thanks.

Drive it straight to the dealership when it is doing it, have the service writer/manager ride in it with you and then schedule a time when they can make the proper repairs. I would definitel;y not keep making appointments when I was having an intermittent problem that seems that important. I had a problem with mone shifting out of park and apparently my wife had spilled some coffee in the console. She cleaned up what she could but the plastic parts in the cosole were sticking. They spared some lube into the console to wash it out and that fixed the problem.

I bought my TL from Piazza Ardmore Acura as well. If I were you, I'd go and tell them to keep the car until they notice it and give you an Acura TL loaner car. Their service people come off as dicks to me. I had some rust on the inside of my trunk and they used windex on it, when that failed he just touched up over it. Such a ghetto fix. Anyway, good luck.

Thanks, couldn't agree more about their folks in 'service'.

They neglected to enter the code nos. to unlock my Navi sys after disconnecting the battery last time I had it in. After taking 10 minutes to find my code in their dealer records the guy chastized me for not keeping the card with the anti-theft codes in the glovebox, 'like most customers.'
