Vin Question

From my understanding the engine on the 3rd gen TL doesnt have a vin plate on the engine itself but it does have one on the transmission. I will be purchasing an engine this weekend and I just wanted to know how can I verify the vin that the seller gave me to the engine.

FSM indicates a serial number eg 1000001 ('04), 2000001 ('05), 3000001 ('06).

the last set of several numbers is the cars actual number, which decodes down to plant location and date made
Ive never heard of an engine without the cars VIN on it
Same with trans- there is a plate, supposed to be moved to replaced trans (warranty failures)
engines are usually stamped into the blocks casting, somewhere law enforcement can find it if needed~
Car makers are required to mark many parts of the car, some known some secret- so car strippers may miss one and the car can still be identified from a small bit
