I do not feel any vibration when driving on freeways (I have Pilot Sport A/S) but is that due to the non EL42 driving or is it because they fixed it in the newer models or is it because I am lucky. Thank you :worship:

I must be the only happy EL42 driver as I've got no vibration and the car hasn't squealed once when I've pushed her hard in turns.

The only reason I consider the Michellin's is because I've had them before and all the talk about sliding in wet weather and a 'cheap' feeling ride make me think that since I'm going to have to pay for new rubber when I return my car to Acura, I might as well put the EL42's in the garage and get the Michellin's as I'd be able to enjoy my $800 instead of just giving it away at the end of the lease.

MasterTL, may I know what kind of vibration you're talking about?

Vibration from tires in some certain ranges of speed?
Vibration caused by flatspot?
Vibration caused by low RPM (resonance of exhaust)?

Thanks.

Pushed her hard in turns = 50 mph on a 30 mph off-ramp with foot off the accellerator.

Similar attempts in my '00 RL with the beloved Michellin's produced squeals and lumpy shock absorbers; the '04 TL is solid like a rock and I'm happy.

Well i am in california so i guess that rules out flatspotting automatically.
I think the low rpm and 50-60mph vibrations are what i am talking about

MasterTL,

Do you still experience the "droning" sound/noise with Michelin tires?
Did you have that with EL42s?
Did you feel vibration you're talking about with EL42s?

Thanks.

According to ACS the vibration is a characteristic of the car's drivetrain. Tires can not cause nor correct this problem. Every 2004 TL has this and it is not a problem

I was told this 3 times by 3 different people when I called in to complain about my EL-42's

I have no problem with you driving like that, just don't yell at others for doing what you do everyday. Life on that perch must be lonely, being a hypocrate must be too.

The 40 year old drag racer complaining of a few rattles has spoken on the subject of hipocracy. You are a comic genius.

Thanks for hte info. The "droning" does happen at lower RPMs and goes away after I hit about 4th.

I never drove with the EL42. The dealer exchanged it before i got it off the lot.

Look at 2nd reponse

I do know this, I raced at a race track one day, the rattles were there the day I bought the car, you ignore this simple fact because you're an online asshole and that's what you do, heck I bet you get paid for it.

You on the other hand admit to racing on the street everyday. Hipocracy is your middle name and your badge.

Let me know when you stop picking on SUV's and driving like Andretti, then you can spout off that huge gaping pie hole between the ears.

MasterTL,

OK, you have cleared my doubt.

IMO, with EL42s, some ppl do complain of having some vibration-like rides, and those "vibration" they have claimed seems disappeared or reduced after they're replaced by better treads. Those vibration are similar to "Vibration at low RPM and 50-60mph vibrations" you've asked about.

But, the characteristic "droning" sound is still there, it won't go away after having new tires. Downshifting from 5th gear/1500 RPM to 4th gear/2000 RPM does help eliminate it, but it will happen again (with less dBA) while you have 4th gear/1500 RPM. (someone does feel this droning noise so annoying and this "droning" even creates some additional vibration into their seat, floor, steering wheel, etc, in some 04TLs) We don't know whether or not newer VINs' 04TLs get less "characteristic".

In your case, I think the new tires definitely contribute better ride to you.

(When we talk about "vibration", I didn't say all 04TLs absolutely have "vibration"... many of them don't have it at all, as well as many of drivers are unable to feel that vibration...)
