Used TL help

So I'm new to the while Acura world and I have been searching around here to find some help buying a used TL. I found some good info but could use some more help. Ive been looking at 2005s and 2007s or so because I need something around 16 or 17 thousand. I need to know what to look for when buying, what is the most mileage one should have on it when I buy it, and just general things I should know when or before buying. Thanks for the help guys

welcome to the site, mileage is depend on your personal preference. I would buy whatever car that has a long history of complete maint up to date and regardless of the mileage, if you are looking to buy an AT then make sure you need to do 3x3 (replace 3 quart of ATF and repeat the process 3 times), replace 3rd & 4th pressure switch. If the car is near 100k miles then get ready to spend almost $1600 for TB/WP service along with other goodies. $17k can land you in a 07-08 base TL with 60k-70k miles.

Thanks for the help, I'm the kind of person that the cheaper the car the better it looks to me haha. But I am hoping to get one with around 60-70k miles, but i did find an 05 with 153k miles for around 10k, the dealer has already replaced the timing belt recently is there any other major problems I should look for? I do plan on taking whatever I get to a local certified mechanic and ask him to give it a look over.

You get what you pay for. Buy from an individual to get the most for your money. I'd stay with 07-08 because the previous models had lots of transmission issues. You can find a base 07-08 with normal mileage for easily under $17K.

Here are some suggestions from my TL experiences (and there are also some used car buying suggestion at the bottom of the thread): https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-tl-2004-2008-93/new-tl-s-owner-4-month-impressions-884488/
