Used car buying guide?

I'm thinking about buying a used TL...I checked the stickies here but I can't find a used car buying guide anywhere. Currently I am looking at 2004 and 2005 models. Is there anything I should keep a lookout for? I've heard that they can have transmission problems but I haven't been able to find any information on what those problems are, how to diagnose them, how to prevent them, how much it costs to fix them, etc. Is there an overview on buying used TLs? Thanks

I bought an 04 TL in August last year. TBH, I wasn't really shopping for them but I stumbled on one and I picked it up for a good daily. It has been a good car overall, minimal problems, except some one dented the door and I currently have a slightly bent rim due to a deep pothole in philly. That being said here is what I would look for when buying one:
-Make sure the transmission is smooth, minimal shuddering, smooth downshifts, check the color of the fluid. If not be prepared to drain/refill the ATF, change pressure sensors, and possibly even rebuild or replace the tranny.
-Compliance bushings should be in good shape. My ones aren't. You can tell because there is a slight shimmy in the wheel at highway speeds, and it isn't as stable as it should be.
-Depending on mileage, make sure the 105K mile service was done, which is the timing belt, water pump, valve adjustment. Otherwise be prepared to spend money on it
- Interior nothing really can go wrong - make sure the dash has no cracks, everything functions as it should. Some of the bulbs can go out and the car can rattle a bit sometimes.
-Try to get a CARFAX history of the car and all the maintenance (my car had all this provided)
-Make sure you test drive it.

Good luck!

just a few early 04 model has problem with the AT, after all this isn't bad as the 2nd gen TL. every PPI is the same and if you can't DIY then I would recommend bring your own friend/mechanic or bring it to an Acura dealer and have them to do PPI for you. Good luck with the hunt.
