Question Use extra double-sided tape on front a-spec lip?

I'm installing the kit and I noticed on a write up, the guy used extra double-sided tape. Is this necessary? Does it not come with enough? Thanks for any information.

I used extra when I installed mine. make sure you use the good stuff, 3M red peel double sided tape. weak spots that you'll want to tape include the corners of each add on piece, and any other areas you want to reinforce.

corners meaning where the lip pieces start to curve around the bumpers you know?

Yeah I just took the front lip out of the wrapping and (for an 05 base) there is double sided (red) tape all over the top portion of the lip. From the center all the way to the edge. Then the far sides are held on by the brackets, so I'm not sure there's a place for more tape. Looks like it should be good the way it is... The write-up I read was for the type-s kit, so maybe it's not taped as well.

I have a 08 and didn't use any extra double-sided tape for the front lip. There is a very small gap but not noticeable so I'm not worried about it.

For the rear lip however there was a gap on the left and right edges because the lip kit is curved towards the edges of the bumper. I had to take it off and re do it and I purchased VHB (Very High Bond) double sided tape from McMaster Carr and re did it.

Rolls of 3M (Red) double sided from home depot or amazon costed $40-$50. I wasn't going to spend that much money on tape when I really only needed to use about $5 worth....

I got mines from McMaster Carr for only ~$20.

If you are looking for it, here's the link for future reference.

I purchased the 3/4" 5-yard roll for $18.76

yeah I mean you may not need extra tape...but I wanted to use some anyway just to be on the safe side. once those pieces are put on and pressed...they're on there so you def want it to be flush all the way across.

you can get a roll of 3m tape for like $5 at your local auto parts store.

Well I got it on.. the instructions for the 07 are very different than what needs to be done with the 05 base front lip. There are only a couple places where there is a small gap that I may tend to somewhere down the line. If and when that time comes, I'm going to use some of the automotive silicone caulk that another guy on here used with good results.

Thanks again for the quick responses and help. I love this forum.
