Upgrading Center Channel on TL
Upgrading Center Channel on TL
Greetings,
I am planning on upgrading my stereo in my 04 TL w/ Navi.
Two different installers have told me that I would have to keep the Factory Amp in order to retain 5.1.
Basically they are saying run the head unit to the factory amp, and then run from the factory amp to my aftermarket amps running the upgraded speakers.
Does that sound right?
Also, I would like to run a 5-channel amp, running the center channel speaker, the front components, and the rear components. Then a two-channel running the subs.
Will this config work, and can I remove the factory amp from the equation and still have surround sound (I am keeping the factory deck)?
You advice is appreciated.
Thanks,
Ben

Hello, and welcome to the forum.
I would suggest that you call Acura Corp. and get a definitive answer from them as to what components must remain. I have an older 300ZX, and want ed to swap a few things out back in the day. Installers told me several conflicting things, so I called Nissan, spoke with a knowledgeable technician, and got the right info.
Good luck
