Upgraded to Type S

Hello everyone. I used to have the 2nd gen 99 T.L. Got it when I was 18 back in 02 and Pretty much did everything you can imagine to it.

Here's a video of it

I bought the 07 type S (silver) today and couldn't be any more happier. Anyway I would appreciate some advice on exterior mods. I dont plan on slamming this or putting on rims. Here's what I'm Thinking:

Aspec front lip
sarona roof wing
OEM window visors
tint front windows
oem rear under spoiler

Am I missing anything? If anyone can recommend a seller I'd appreciate it.

Congrats!! Beautiful car my friend!
One thing I've always disliked is the license plate frame on any TL but that's just personal preference, I took mine off the day I bought it.
/e love what you did with the '99 TL!

if you're gonna get the front and rear lip, get the sides too. when I see ppl with front and rear but no sides it makes me feel like the car is incomplete

Welcome, nice ugrade
MT? Forget exterior, keep it light and go for performance

Yea that's what I say^^^ you're dumping all that money to make it look good, when you should be using it to make it run more efficient. Get a exhaust and intake let it breath a little you can add 30+ hp just from a exhaust! But congrats you'll never get bored with that baby. I've had mine for 4 years still love it the same as day one!

thx for the feedback. Anyone know where I can get a aspec kit for cheap. From what I saw on other people's kit, I thought they didn't make the side skirt for it. Know any good sites to purchase it?

You bought the car at Acura Plesanton? That's 45 mins away from me. How did you find out about it if you don't mind me asking? I've been looking locally for a month or so now and would love to buy one from an Acura dealership

Congrats on the purchase I think your gonna really like that Type S. A couple things, dont forget to polish up those exhaust tips. They look a little black ;-) Maybe get under the car and try to align them a bit too. For whatever reason that right side looks a little out of wack. Looks like it needs to be pushed up and right a little. I bet that exhaust hanger can be bent slightly to put the tips where they need to be....yeah im anal haha

As for mods, like others have said dont just do one part of the aspec kit. If your gonna do it do all of it. Front, sides, and rear. Aspec kits arent cheap per say, but reasonable for what you get. I think the going price on the forums is around $750, but thats if you can even get one. Most colors are long sold out and discontinued. So goodluck with that! most people say you gotta buy a different color then have it painted which sucks.

The other mods you listed arent my cup of tea, but thats all personal preference. For whatever reasons I cant stand the look of window visors and roof spoiler. IMO they just take away the clean lines of the car. To me the point of a "clean" car is to avoid having big pieces of plastic protruding from your car haha. You dont see guys putting window visors on their Porsches, or Nissan GTR's or whatever lol. Why do that shit to a TL? Ok, now that I got that off my back, the only other thing is take off the free advertising from the dealership you bought the car from (license plate frame).

Car looks awesome man, congrats again!

I bought it from av private seller from concord who happened to have bought it from pleasanton. I stayed away from dealerships cuz you can easily tack on another $3k on the purchase price and another 1k on sales tax. I just looked on craigslist and happened to get lucky. Good luck in finding one.

Congrats on the upgrade! The 2nd gen is sweet though. Do you still have it? Why upgrade?

Nice pickup! Although I might be a little bias...

Also, hate to be the bearer of bad news, but the a spec kit is discontinued in ASM. You'll need to have at least the front and rear pieces painted.

Also, good luck avoiding drop and rims once you get started...altho I guess you already know how that story goes.

As for other mods, check out my progress thread linked in my signature, lots of ideas there as long as you aren't going for the performance route.

Yee Bay Area. where you @?

Grats on the new TL! As far as aesthetic mods go, the A-Spec kit is great. I have the opposite problem of availability, as the sides are discontinued in my color and I haven't been able to get a hand on them.

To give you an idea, check out my progress thread for pictures of the TLS with:
Stock -> Just front A-Spec -> Front and Rear A-Spec
I didn't think the rear would make much of a difference, but it made a HUGE difference visually. The sides are probably the most subtle.

As far as roof spoilers go, I went with the eBay one from BMWOEMSHOP because it's clean and subltle, unlike some of the larger ones. (which I think can be gaudy) It's also less than a third of the price of the Sarona spoiler...

Also, like KJ said...good luck with not lowering haha. The difference between stock and a nice lowered 3G is like night and day...

Read the whole post, it says it doesn't quite fit on one side and you have to sand it down to get it to fit. get the BMW one ftw.

Lots of people went with the A-SPEC suspension, which will drop you 0.5-1.0" from the Type-S. I like the look and handling - big improvement over stock 6MT - but I admit to occasionally thinking about a full set of coilovers...

How's the ride with the new suspension? Is there any rubbing I the stock rims?

A spec is factory suspension, there would never be any rubbing with stock rims, even with spacers.

If you really don't think you want to mod this as much, I would recommend H&R sport Springs. They will kill a little wheel gap but still seem factory in other regards...and the car will look nice but not necessarily "lowered" to the general public.

If it was my car, besides the obvious detail, deep polish and Opti-Coat, I'd tint the windows, upgrade the factory speakers and get the XLR8 j-pipe. And then enjoy it.

^^^So the whole kit was available in ASM or just the side skirts? I think it was the front and rear that weren't available anymore.

Well if I didn't ask that. I asked for the blue kit and they had my fronts and back in my color and told me they didn't have the sides to choose between the Asm wdp and nhb. I'm not 100% sure but I believe they told me they only had the whole sets in those same colors and that if I wanted kbp I'd have to paint at least the sides. My advice is call and see what shipping equates to if they have it in Asm. If its more then buying it wateva color ur dealer has and then painting it then clearly u should buy from ur dealer and then paint it

Google paragon Acura queens NYC and u should get the parts dept number. The guys there are pretty cool and have always been good with me so they can help
