Typical BMW driver
Typical BMW driver
On my way to work about 6a.m a silver bmw was "drivin' like it was stolen" until he got behind me. He then started tailgating me while throwin' on his hi beams. I knew it wasn't an m3( 3 series 4dr previous model) so I figured I'm gonna piss him off then take off and leave him in the dust. He finally jumps in the middle lane(three lanes & I'm in the left) and punches it while I maintain my speed to see what I'm up against( 330 ix with a dinan logo on his trunk). We hit a traffic light so we're head to head. Light turns green and he got an immediate jump(bout 1/2 car) til about 30, then I started to pull about 1/2 car length when we hit another light. Next light he jumps again and I started to pull 1 car length and kept pullin' but I noticed I was goin' 70 in a 35mph zone, flyin' through intersections(the whole jail thing came to mind) so I decided even if we went to 100, I'd still be at least 1 car length ahead of him so I started to ease off the gas. I guess he thought I saw a cop cuz he slammed on his brakes! As he passed me up, I gave him the friendly nod but he replied with his middle finger! WTF? I know it was a 330 but he gave me a serious run for my money!
I'm probably gonna sound like an ass but whatever... here's how i see this:
He got behind you, you were in the left lane going SLOWER than him and NOT switching lanes to let him go. So, he put on his high beams but you dont get the hint and still NOT switch lanes, so he decides to pass you from the right. But after that you speed up to "race him".
The fact is, I wouldve probably flipped you the bird too.
MOVE OUT OF THE FAST LANE IF SOMEONE FASTER IS COMING.
That being said, it seems like you did pretty good...

I could see if I was going 25 or sumthin but he was flyin through traffic to begin with so he would have done the same even if i was in the slow lane! He prolly wasn't lookin for a race but he REALLY wasn't lookin to get his ass handed to him!

I typically ride the left lane @ 80-85mph and move over when faster traffic comes up behind me. (....just happened to me two weeks ago on I287 when some Jeep SRT8 came up hard behind me while I was driving my Murano....although in my case he was actually looking to pick a race with any takers as, he tried to egg on an STi which was driving @ the speed limit....the STi did not bite neither.)

Funnier still, that episode happened way up in Northern NJ. Later that day, I saw another SRT8 Jeep showing off in central NJ. ....must have been a run on of Neon SRT4 drivers upgrading to Jeep SRT8s recently 'cause they seem to drive the same way.
wow
no wonder everyone kept getting out of my lane when I was on my way to Conneticut, going like 120 on the CT-15
all this time I kept thinking that they just wanted to take the next exit or something, but now I know that it was actually because I was approaching them too fast

well I was driving in the left lane a couple days ago on my way to work, when a car was gaining on me fast (i mean fast!) so i quickly changed lanes and let him go. As he zoomed past me I saw that it was a Porsche but it was a model I haven't seen before. When I got a closer look at it at a stop light.....it was a Carrera GT!!
first time ever to see one of those in real life.

...to find people who drive like that, you have to get away from DC
... oh well... one can always dream... haha
I have gone slow in the fast lane twice in my life to bait an asshole into getting smoked that wsas driving like an idiot. Once was a neon with a bodykit and a fartcan and maybe some other mods(definitely no turbo) and I destroyed him, it was funny as hell. The second time was a BMW 318i(what a surprise) LOL. I think the neon was faster. That wasn't even a race. I was going 60 in a 65, downshifted to 2nd and chirped my tires bad, once I got traction he was an ant in my rearview. Both of these drivers were cutting in an out of traffic on a 4 lane highway and being reckless. I saw them and pulled into the far left lane and waited for them, then just took off and watched them disappear. In my mind it wasn't dangerous and I had no fear of being pulled over as I have driven this stretch a million times and know where even cop is and the highway is so flat and straight it is hard not to gun it over 100mph from time to time.

Yeah, but being Acura enthusiast you have no weapons to fight with BMWs. Even lowly 335 is much faster than any Acura short of dead NSX and there is no Acura that can go against BMW M cars.

Comparison of the 3-series to other makes and models is a whole another story, of course.

1.) M5/M6
2.) M3
3.) Z4 M, 335i, Z8 (slightly faster than 760i, 550i)
Let's us not forget that the TL is also one of the oldest cars in this segment right now. Most of its competitors have been designed recently.
Anyways, with all of that being said, of course I won't block anything that's faster than me for sure. Also, I think the 335i, when you load it up with some options, is more expensive than most Acuras.

And I believe my dream car, the Honda NSX-R, is more than enough to fight with BMWs on race tracks. Lapping Nurburgring in 7:56 with only 280hp says a lot to the engineering of the NSX-R. But you are right again there, it's not in production anymore. Anyways, isn't the 335i one of the fastest BMWs out there? From the many magazines I have read, it's almost as fast as the BMW M3, and if you don't count the CSL or GTR cars, then the 335i is perhaps the 3rd or 4th fastest BMW in a straight line:
1.) M5/M6
2.) M3
3.) Z4 M, 335i, Z8 (slightly faster than 760i, 550i)

Me along with all the other cars on the bridge slammed on our brakes while this idiot kept goin' at high speeds! He must of past me doing at least 100,( bridge speed limit 50mph) but that evo............................................... .long gone that Beamer had NO chance of catching it!

^^^I don't know about your statement that a tl-s feels uncomfortable over 80. I have a 99 TL with no suspension upgrades and over 100 I feel confortable and confident in the car. it doesn't corner like a bimmer but it does pretty well.

that's pretty interesting as I also find my stock TL-S very stable and I am very confident that it will keep me safe at speeds above 100mph. The only thing that stops me from doing that is the consequences of getting a ticket. But I have mostly driven a 92 accord, 98 camry, 99 corolla, and 05 rx8.
Anyways, may be because of this "confidence" that these BMW drivers have, which make them (not all, but most I have seen so far) do all sorts pretty impressive (or stupid/reckless/unsafe...whatever you can think about) things. Acura drivers do these things too, but in terms of %, at least from my experience, is far less.

94 Dodge Spirit (it's ok to laugh!).Even then though I was pullin against a few of the older bimmer 3 series with no mods. Here in the philly burbs there's lotsa bimmer drivers, but only a handfull that can actually drive (regardless of the handling, braking, ect.) it seems.
I resent the "typical BMW driver"..... funny I just finished defending the TL in a BMW forum....Oh well I am defending the TL not the drivers..... I have both a 05 TL Aspec and a 07 335 and they are two totally different driving experiences. Argue all you want.

There are definitely BMW drivers out there that can drive safely and responsibly, no doubt about that. But the point here is that most of them are not like that.
