Which one is darker? Depo or OEM

I would like the dark chrome as dark as possible to go with my NBP color....I nbp painted it but it looks dull when everything is put back together.
My apologies for bringing up a old topic but I would like to know if one taillight has a more darker chrome than the other?

I want to take my WDP TL and get blk wheels this spring/summer to match my dark tint and TL-S sidemarkers

I went with a set of Depo tail lights as well as rear side markers. I got them both off of Ebay. One thing I noticed when choosing side markers was that some Auctions that were selling side markers as a four piece set (Front and Rear) stated that the smoked side markers had a crystal clear lens. So for the rears to match the front you would need to change the fronts as well. It might be BS to get you to buy a set of 4, but maybe not. Anyways, I found an auction selling a 2 piece set (Rears) and the picture looked just like the fronts (factory) so I went with that one and was pleased with the result. The right side of my bumper got hit slightly, hence the flaking paint.

I'm usually not a fan of depo lights in general, but those look great. It seems like for the most part people are happy with them too.

Yeah, most of the depos are a great quality too...there are some slight fitment issues in the sense that when you look from an angle you can see into the trunk lid a little, but overall it's amazing for the price.

All six DEPO lights for $179 shipped...off ebay...a sidemarker went out and for one OEM sidemarker I decided to just go ahead and buy the set. Great deal. Package arrived today and I will install tonight. Pics and reviews tomorrow.

Well I bought my depo lights off ebay from Neondials on 2/15/12...they lasted a bit but started to leak and fog up. Took the rear one off to try and let them sit to dry and this is what it looks like after 12 hours...perma white fog and cracked

slight gap like mention...So far so good..from afar you can't tell.

The tails don't fit perfectly, but for what I paid I'm satisfied.
There is a slight gap in the middle of both lens. It is hardly noticeable.

The sidemarkers fit snug and look decent. For the price you can't be too mad. I think it is a great upgrade for the money. In the end they are just lights and lens. This is my daily driver and I could care less. Others may be picky about it and want the OEM tails. If you can get a good deal on OEM ones and you really want the type-s look, why not. Again I paid $179 for all 4 sidemarkers and the tails. I think it is a great deal for a fresher look on a base TL.

Did both leak and crack or just the one? Were all inside and outside gaskets intact? I'm not sure if it makes a difference, but I'll be on the look out for leaks on mine. Anyone else have the same issue?

Only the left one cracked and leaked...it ended up being the whole complete bottom left corner that was missing sealant. When I get home from work tonight I will post better pictures of the 2 of them so you can see

Contact Simon at Unique Style Racing, he's a standup dude and will rectify if those are in fact from the fishcake vendor on ebay (fishcake = unique style racing).

BUT, I have those smoked lenses and the picture you posted looks strange...like the signal difuser cover is not uniform, which the USR one is. Might be the angle.

But the link you posted was of fishcake...that's why I got confused. I have zero problems with my USR ones. I'm sorry to see your issues...why not just get the USR (fishcake ones you posted) and call it day and chalk up to a lesson learned? Or contact them and see what the return policy is!

when did you purchase? even though the seller is a douche and made it pretty clear they're just covering their ass...I bet you DEPO would stand behind the product. Contact them!

These are the same that USR sells so it's just a manufacturer defect...can't be helped when making cheap replica parts.

J.

Warranty - Some products we sell are warranted by the manufacturer, however, if you have any questions regarding the warranty please contact us prior to buy. We DO NOT make the product and we, as the seller, DO NOT provide any warranty to the products we sell.
Our job is to get you the best price and ship it out fast. For most of the DEPO BRAND lighting assemblies, they do come with warranty UP TO 6 months upon purchase for FITMENT and LEAKING issues ONLY. Buyers are responsible for both ways shipping fees for warranty purposes.

Depos aren't bad at all, but for resale/quality/looks OEM is only $~60 or so more. If you buy used ones for around $80, yes its a good deal.

I work with them all the time and really try to stay away from DEPOS because of fitment issues and such, but for instance TYPE-S DEPO bezels and OEM bezels to me look 100% different.

DEPOs tend to fail and leak (headlights as well) around 5/10 times and OEM are rare to leak and fail, although I have seen it happen. When I say I have seen it happen, I have seen over 300 TL's personally and worked on over 100 different cars in the past two years alone.. Because when fitment is off, the gasket isn't "tight" to the rear quarter panel and as most of us know, the 3G TL (04-08) has an open in the back of the tail lights and the gasket is to "flow water away" from it..

Also I don't mean to bash unique style racing but I have contacted them directly and the lady was nothing but NO help at all and brushed me off, not to mention they stole my pictures, thats what really got to me. I don't know why they can't just take pictures of their products, it just maybe me, but I don't like it. I have literally called them over 5 times about being a vendor for them for some items, and no response or call back. I left her my two numbers/email/etc..

My one buddy had a leak on his tail lights and they told him to put it in the oven to get rid of the moisture......NOT a good idea...the plastic will melt instantly as well as the insides..

So far zero complaints about my Depo Type S tails, only thing I wish was the black chrome was a little darker, one of these days I might open them up and paint the trim satin black to match the inside of my headlights. Has anyone done a light smoke/charcoal protection film on them? I have painted tails on my other car but I don't wanna do that on my DD, just something to protect them from scratches and make them look a hair darker.

I'd stay away from depo. The previous owner of my car installed depos and now they fog up and leak.

Figured I would chime in on this. I put these on my first TL in 2010 and they have gone through summer and winters in WI with no problems at all. No leaks or fogging. I will be buying these for my new TL for sure.

I have leaks on both my DEPO tails when washing the car, when it's raining, and during cold weather. Right side had actual droplets of water at one point at the bottom as well as fog, and the left side had fog and a fly
