Type-S inside-exhaust paint
Type-S inside-exhaust paint
I was cleaning my tips with some steel wool I reckon about a week er 2 ago and scraped away some of the paint in side the exhaust. Any ideas what kind of paint would be good there?
Any heat resistant paint such as Duplicolor Engine Paint works.
BBQ paint works good too I heard.
I would go with a semi-gloss black or satin black because high gloss black would stick out too much and flat black might turn out more gray than black when it dries.

normal people cant tell, but i can.
i advise to spray everything inside to get uniform color.

Just pick up some of this stuff at your local auto store:

I used it on mine. IIRC it's about $8 and matches the original inner exhaust tip paint almost perfectly. Plus since it's so heat resistant you can paint virtually anything with it, so you'll undoubtedly find other uses for it.

I’ll make it 3.
I use it on the rotary mufflers and underneath the rear part of the car that can be seen, TL mufflers and inside after cleaning, and all the other cars I’ve owned where the mufflers can be seen. Even the daughter’s Maxima the metal mufflers are annoying with the chrome tips, so the mufflers are now black.
Actually any flat back Hi Temp paint.

BBQ paint would be your best bet. We painted exhaust tips on my friends Porsche a while back with Matte Black BBQ paint. First time we didn't put down a primer and it bubbled
Spray it down with primer first.

Depends on the condition of the metal, if cracked and flaking, I'd clean it first, then spray. If good base, I wipe the area down with acetone before spraying. On the TL I had to clean the inside up then spray, but the mufflers were just sprayed after a cleaning.
