I just took a ride in my friend's TL-S........

and wow, it has red ambient lighting at the feet section of the driver and passenger side. Quite impressive.

Does regular TL have that ambient lighting too?

I have an 06 so not sure if i have it or not..I never noticed.......I don't think it does..

yep or at least in my tl-s.. not to steal the post, but anyone know what kind of bulbs they take and how to remove it? i wanna make mine brighter ^^

Only TL-S's come stock with the footwell lightings, however, it's a very simple mod to do on a base 3G

 

although it would be an interesting mod to have, it's just too Scion xB for me...

 

it is a lil scion/civicy.... but... on the TL-S its very subtle and discreet, and still looks sexy and sporty.. hard to explain

ive got red LEDs, red door sills, red alarm LED, red gauges, red dials..... and youd think it was overkill.. but it works, and it looks good

but still, to this day... nothing is more beautiful then the base 04-06 TL gauges w/ blue or white LED interior lights...

my stock 07 TL also has footwell ambient lighting, however, in blue.

easy way to make it brighter is to take off the plastic diffuser cover. I believe it is a #74 bulb

i know what you're gonna say "too bright" trust me it just looks that way in the pics. to me its just perfect, not distracting at all.

 

Can somebody take some pics of the footwell lights? anyway DIYs on how to add them in to base TLs?!

the 04-06 TL does not have footwell lighting, ALL 07+ TL;s have them. To add them is fairly simple. Take an LED, drill hole in footpanel and place there with some glue. Take wires and connect them to the light in the center console, it is on when the headlights are on.

I just added it to the front of my 04. I purchased blue leds from adavanced auto parts. it a strip of leds that is sticky on the back that is about 1 inch long and has three leds in each strip. I had to put three layers of masking tape over mine to get them dim enough to just be ambiant lighting.

Its very easy to install. The passengers side I hooked the hot up to the glove box light and grounded to the metal on the the dash.
on the driver side I tied the hot into the hot wire for the trunk button illumination and grounded it to the dash. Now they come on with the headlights.

I had to make my dim because I don't like alot of light in the car at night, I like just a slight glow.

not "hiding" just laying low. haven't done much to the ride, but i have some plans for it in the near future. (body kit+ sounds) keep you posted.

 

Agree with Blackura, owning my 08 TL type S i still prefer the 04-06 blue lighting...i find sometimes the red to bold, still a beautiful car overall!

 

Does anyone have the part number for the OEM footwell assembly in the 07 TL? Would it be better to use the OEM assembly or LED strips for the ambient lighting?

 

im pretty sure you can just buy it as an accessory on the 04-06, i install them on accords and civics all the time...very simple...bascially plug and play no cutting or hacking any wires...uses all factory connectors...and only turns on when the parking/driving lights are on...with a switch...(stock tl-s doesn't not have optional switch) but the lights for the acc. ambient lights are blue...not red i believe...

 

I realize this is an old thread... but has anyone found an accessory footwell ambient light setup for the 04-06 TL's as described above?

I have an 06 TL. Just bought my wife an 08 TL. I love the ambient light in the footwells of the 08. Would like to add that to my 06 TL. I know Honda sells an OEM accessory to add this to Accords and Civics. Can't find a plug and play no cutting or hacking of wires setup.

I have an 08 NBP Navi...and this is one of the features that i didn't know about the car. When i first purchased the car (daytime), my wife and i went for a long drive, and when nightfall hit...i realized we have that blue ambient lighting. It actually made the drive home really relaxing because of these lights IMO
