Two different levels of tint on the side?

I'm thinking about tinting my car and it's illegal to do the front side windows at all but I think I'm going to do it. I'm considering doing 20% on the back three and 30% or 35% on the front two. Has anyone done this? Does it look goofy? Feel free to post pics of any and all tint combos so I can get an idea of what I like, especially if your car is anthracite.

Imo get the same shade all the way around when you do it, reason: the fronts always look lighter anyways because more light is able to come through the windshield.

35 on fronts 20 on rears only because that's how I purchased the car and have been to busy to take it all off and do 35 all the way around

Im on the same boat as you,, trying to decide what tints to go with. I think Im going with the set up I had on my tsx which was 20% all around except for the windshield which was 42%. It looked so sexy like that. My advice to you is that 30% on the front would be kind of to dark.

30% is lighter than 20%, but you want to do 20% on the front two windows?

i think that looks pretty good. although so would 35 on all the sides too. tough choice. I wonder how 30 or 35 on the sides would look with a 20% back window. the back window has to be at least 20 IMO, it's so easy to see through from the back with the front window but clear as day.

OP, if you are worried about it being illegal than it doesnt matter if you go 35% trans up front and only 20% in the rear. Cops will still easil recognize the 35% upfront and will give you the same ticket had you had the same tint all four corners.

I just had to remove my front tint due to cali law. But Ill be putting it back on next week. Fuck the police.

In my integra I had somewhere around 35-45 up front and probably around 20 in the small side mirrors and I never thought it looked goofy. So to answer that question, it'll look perfectly fine with two levels of tint. If you dont want to go dark up front due to your visibility than go 35% trans. If it is just because of tint laws, then it doesnt matter if you are 35% or 20%, tint is tint.

20% on the rears and the rear window makes it much harder to see at night when your backing up. I have to use my camera a lot more then I would like too

Just do 35% all around. That's what I do on my cars and love it. I looks perfect, but at the same time doesn't scream dark ass tint like 20 or darker do. I personally prefer to keep the tint same percentage all around. I don't like the look of mixmatching tint shades.

I did mine 20% all around. I have seen lots of people do what your considering and it doesnt look too bad. It really depends on where you live if you are going to have trouble or not. I went darker then the legal limit and have had no issues here in MO.

Here's mine with 50% up front (sides) and 15% on the back window and rear windows- I'm in NJ where it's illegal to have the tint up front, but since the driver can easily be seen despite the tint, I've never been pulled over because of it. I wanted the tint primarily to save my interior when the sun and heat is very strong in the summer. 50% is enough to still block the UV but light enough that you more than likely won't be ticketed.

I'd like it uniform all around, but to me it really looks good.

I was also debating this. I have a black car so it would look nice. I don't personally like to notice a difference between the fwd and rear windows but because its illegal i'll probably do 50% front and 35% rear side windows and 35% back.

I think i'll end up doing 35% all around.

I got sick of getting pulled over. I did 50% front, 35% rear, 20% back window. I love 35% and even 20% all the way around but cops suck in Utah where I bought the car, and would make you peel it off right on the side of the road.

i just want something no darker than 30% on the fronts because it rains where i live quite a bit and it's hard to see out of anything darker at night when it's pouring rain.

that would look nice but i really think the rear winder needs a 20% since when you look through that window you have no interior or anything to darken it and with the front windshield obviously being clear, anything lighter is very see through. we have cellphone laws here and even though i shouldn't, i check my texts at red lights and/or answer my phone when driving and i'd rather no one be able to see from the rear. a few months back i was in a car with no tint and at a red light i picked up my phone and sent a 5 letter word and put it done before the light went green and there was a cop behind me - got a ticket for "texting while driving".

i'm going for tint this week, i can't decide what to do. i find when you go TOO dark it looks a bit tacky (imo!). maybe i'll do 35 on the sides and 20 on the back. i ddon't knowwwwww.

keep the pics comin!

Depends on interior, I have NBP with ebony interior. I have 35 in the front windows and 20 on the back 3 and it looks good IMO but if I were to do it again I would probably just go 20 all around. And yeah if you get pulled over you're getting a ticket regardless of 20/35.
